UPDATE 2 : In what can only be described as a gaffe, Ubisoft announced that I Am Alive will not be released in March. Shacknews reported that Ubisoft put I Am Alive as line up for their next fiscal year that puts it from April 2009 to March 31st 2010. Ubisoft said:
"will require further development time and will now bolster the line-up for 2009-10."
Pcgames.de revealed exclusive information about Ubisoft's next game. They said the gameplay will center around what is called and social chaos and difficult moral decisions. The developers were inspired by disaster flicks such as 'The Day After Tomorrow'.
You play the role of Adam Collins, a normal everyday guy that abruptly is put on the path of survival as the city he is in suffers what looks like an earthquake. You are trying to find your girlfriend Alice, lost after the disaster. The world Adam Collins is in is plunged into chaos.
Producer Alexis Goddard says that it is similar to survival horror and ammo is extremely scarce. Items like bottled water becomes valuable commodity in this environment and you need such items to survive.
Confrontation with the enemy is said to take a new social dynamic twist as he said the player is not rewarded for an aggressive approach. The game encourages player to outwit the enemy.
He gave an example that players would be able to point their shotgun even if you do not have ammo to bluff the enemy. The story will be told in flashbacks. He also went to dispel rumours that Jade Raymond is working on this game.
I'm pretty sure Ubisoft will unveil more about this game later this year. From the sound of things, it looks to be a unique game.
Nice to see product placement even in a trailer. sigh.

If this really make it to the shelves. I'll definitely get it for sure.
ReplyDeleteI like real-life simulation games :P
They said similar things about Assasin's Creed and about its crowd dynamic. It however was not as fancy as they made it sound and was just a simple dynamic.
