Introversion's Prison Architect Gets First Look Trailer

Prison Architect trailer! Finally! Introversion has been subversively doing a treasure hunt, embedding secret images and codes with the recent humble bundle hinting at the game. They haven't talked much about the game yet, and the game has an official site that has no info yet. Rock Paper Shotgun has put up a short write up on the game ... based on what they say, It could be incredibly addictive. Has the qualities of a classic tycoon game. Yay! Check out the first look trailer below...

Gutter Video Games Journalism - Top Gaming Site Continues To Dish Out Unverified Rumours

Just a moment ago, a story went live on what is potentially the biggest video game blog on the internet at the moment. The site posted that a certain Bioware game is getting an arena based multiplayer mode(they say it might be a different game)... with dragons! It will be using DICE's Frostbite 2 engine(the one powering Battlefield 3). I'm not going to comment on the rumour of the game itself but the over emphasis on gutter journalism such as this is depressing to say the least.

I'm no journalist myself(I'm not claiming to be one), but I do know for a fact that posting info from an insider that doesn't even know if it is a sequel or a whole different game... totally unverifiable(don't expect an answer from the devs or publisher). I'm not against the idea of posting rumours. If the rumour originates from the publisher/dev and is plain for all to see, then go ahead and speculate(I've done that). But an insider? Yeah great job, you got a couple of thousand of hits, I'm certain. Of course it could be true, but ethical? This isn't the first time they've done this(and yes, other sites have done stuff like these as well). Good job guys!

Magicka The Stars Are Left Out Expansion Out Now!

Paradox released the second expansion for Magicka, The Stars Are Left today. It is price at USD$5.99 and adds a bunch of new levels(inspired by Lovecraft), magic, items, new enemies and bosses. Finally I get to load up the game with new stuff to play with my friends. 8 Million Copies of Battlefield 3 Sold

EA announced that the massive scale shooters, Battlefield 3, has sold a total of 8 million copies to date. GameInformer reported that EA's Chief Financial Officer, Eric Brown stated that they've shipped a total of 12 million copies to retailer. Battlefield 3 sold 5 million copies during he first week. For a bit of comparison, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sold 6.5 million units in the first 24 hours of its release. It's still a tonne of sales for EA, possibly a record for them in recent times. We've reviewed the game and found it to be excellent barring some Battlelog issues. Read our Battlefield 3 review here

Bobby Kottick Says EA Can't Make A Profit With Star Wars The Old Republic

Activision's CEO, Bobby Kottick, poured cold water on EA's Star Wars The Old Republic by stating that it is impossible for EA to profit from it. VG247 reported based off of speech he made at the Reuters Media Summit. He said "We’ve been in business with Lucas for a long time and the economics will always accrue to the benefit of Lucas, so I don’t really understand how the economics work for Electronic Arts". He put EA's chance of success as incredibly slim "If you look at the history of the people investing in an MMO and achieving success, it’s a small number." The idea that Blizzard's juggernaut is the only successful 'traditional' business model MMO may not exactly be true although not without its merits either. EA are claiming they only need half a million subscribers for the project to be successful, which I highly doubt considering the estimated amount they spent on it(a cool USD$100 million). Mainly, I think this is just plain ol' business posturing by Mr. Kottick to lower investors expectation on a competitor propects. Some of you have been playing The Star Wars The Old Republic beta recently. So what did you guys think? Is it a guaranteed success?

Legends of Grimlock Beta Trailer - Looks Like Wizardry

ZOMG! This game reminds me of the classic Wizardry games. It even has green slimes! Okay so I don't know how many of you know what the Wizardry RPG games were all about. First Person, Party based turn based RPG. It was good! Almost Human Human Games, an indie outfit, has released this beta trailer of their in the works RPG, Legends of Grimlock...and it looks pretty! I can't wait for this to be out so that I can spend another 100 hours of my lif... oh wait... The devs announced that it wont make it this year(which means release would be early 2012... no specific date). They are planning to have this be released on Steam. Check out the trailer below...

Total War: Shogun 2 Fall of The Samurai Expansion Announced!

SEGA announced a standalone expansion pack(which means you wouldn't need Total War: Shogun 2) titled Fall of The Samurai. The expansion pack adds six new clans, an foreign powers in the form of America, France, & Britain, new tech trees, new building... all points to a later time period. It's the 19th century(The Boshin War period which starts at 1864), and you have infrastructure like railway to spur industrial growth. A clash between the new Victorian era armies and the Samurai. Hence the title... fall of the samurai...I shed a tear. The expansion is planned for a March 2012 release. Check out the announcement trailer below...

Ubisoft Drops Ghost Recon: Future Soldier For The PC

The reason, Ghost Recon will be available to be PC in the form of the free to play Ghost Recon Online, which they claim takes inspiration from Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Is it a coincidence that I'm running two stories back to back about Ubisoft explaining why they aren't doing a PC version of their game? This time, Ghost Recon Online Producer, Sebastian Arnoult explained to PC Gamer "When we started Ghost Recon Online we were thinking about Ghost Recon: Future Soldier; having something ported in the classical way without any deep development, because we know that 95% of our consumers will pirate the game". Great... it's the same reason... piracy.

I Am Alive Not Coming Out For The PC - Ubisoft Creative Director Explains Why

So the survival game that Ubisoft Montreal has been working on for who knows how many years now has finally been confirmed. But the catch... it's a console downloadable title. For the PS3 and XBOX360 but not for the PC. PC gamers demanded an answer and now we have Creative Director Stanislas Mettra saying that "It’s hard because there’s so much piracy and so few people are paying for PC games that we have to precisely weigh it up against the cost of making it. Perhaps it will only take 12 guys three months to port the game to PC, it’s not a massive cost but it’s still a cost. If only 50,000 people buy the game then it’s not worth it.". It's not worth it because of piracy...le sigh... the P word again. He also said "But are these people just making noise just because there’s no version or because it’s a game they actually want to play? Would they buy it if we made it?". I'm not sure which 'these people' he is referring to... oh well... to bad Ubisoft doesn't want our money. Thanks IncGamers for spotting this.

Being a PC gamer in Southeast Asia Makes Me Jelly of our Western Counterparts

Tactics, solid teamwork and camaraderie are what I have always craved for whenever I play any military shooter. Call me an idealist, but that’s how I enjoy my gaming. Stats such as K/D ratios or individual score never appealed to me. I take pride and joy in being a beneficial team player and helping the team win. This is one of the main foundations that OMGeek is built on, and we would like to gather players from around Southeast Asia with the same ideals and principles. I must say that this is a rare species to find, but fortunately, our numbers seem to have been growing steadily.

Go to OMGeek to read the rest of this entry...

The Humble Indie Bundle Is Back With The Humble Introversion Bundle

These guys just can't stop. Glad they are a force for good(well since... oh well you should know by now that proceeds would be given to charity). The humble bundle this time includes all of Introversions games plus some rather interesting tech prototypes or demos. Most notably the random city generator from the now cancelled Subversion :( So go to their site and pay whatever you want(be gracious please) and get these awesome games.

Bioware + Command & Conquer = ? Bioware Working On C&C Game?

Eurogamer points the trail of evidence for this apparent 'rumour'(or is it a proven fact?). A Victory Games employee lists his workplace as Bioware in Linkedln. Victory Games are the guys working on a new Command & Conquer game revealed earlier this year. And then there is new footage of a new Bioware game. A teaser of sorts that shows urban landscape with a tank. The teaser video also says from a new Bioware Studio. Could Victory Games now be part of Bioware? They are calling it a new Bioware IP but seriously, Command & Conquer ain't a new IP, unless it's a spin off. We'll be learning about this 'new IP' on December 10th when they will be exclusively revealing it Spike TV Video Games Awards. Check out the teaser video below...

World of Tanks Gets A Trailer For Update 7.0

That's 7.0! World of Tanks is a Player vs Player tank battle free to play MMO. You choose a tank and take part in battles, gain experience, upgrade your tanks and buy even more powerful tanks. I found the early beginning to be tough as you're stuck with a weak tank going up against tougher enemy tanks. Also, there was some sort of installation for me on a 64 bit Windows 7 machine(could be fixed now). Check out the trailer below. Check out World of Tanks here.

Panzer Corps Has A Demo! - For The Hardcore Strategy Nuts

Slitherene's Panzer Corps, a modern day version of the classic SSI games, has got a demo. It's a 300MB plus download but worth it. This isn't a light strategy game mind you, so you've been warned. If the word SSI means something to you, try out this game! On top of that, Panzer Corps has half its price slashed. Thanks RPS.

Square Enix Expands Eidos Montreal - New Hitman Game

Eidos Montreal, the studio that developed Deus Ex: Human Revollution, is expanding. Square Enix announced that they will be opening another studio in Montreal, creating 250 jobs. The kicker... they've announced the studio will be working on a new Hitman game. Yeah... Hitman Absolution is being worked by IO Interactive, so a non IO Hitman game? I wonder what will this even be. Hitman Absolution will be released some time in 2012.

King Arthur II Dev Diary Video 1 & 2 - Releases January 2012

King Arthur was real you say? I don't know where you learnt your history, but Neocore certainly is trying to tell a tale of King Arthur in a new way(yes there are no such thing as flying dragons). Turn based and real time strategy ala the Total War formula. They didn't quite get it with the first attempt but they hope to make a big push with the sequel. King Arthur II is releasing on 10th January 2012. They've posted two new dev diary videos, which you can view below...

Malaysian Gamer & OMGeek.net Forming Voltron - Naah Just A Partnership

Okay so not really Voltron, but a sort of partnership. I don't think most people will get the Voltron joke considering it's an 80's show :( But anyway, time to kill the Voltron joke and put it into retirement. A moment of silence please... We're going to be working together bringing you content from them(as well as us sharing our content with them). Malaysian Gamer and OMGeek will be sharing some posting(AAR's, reviews etc). Torchlight II Delayed To 2012! Aaaaarrrrghhh!

I was looking forward to this one. Torchlight was one of my favourite indie game made by former Blizzard North guys, the guys that actually made Diablo. Torchlight II was supposed to be released July this year which was delayed to late 2011. Now, designer Travis Baldree posted in the Runic Games blog that they aren't going to make it this year. "We've come to the realization, however, that getting a game of this scope up to the quality and polish level we want to achieve is going to take a little longer; especially since we want to run a small beta before release to ensure that our launch is smooth". He didn't say exactly when they plan to release it. It's done when it's done I suppose :(

Expect more Stardock games appearing on Steam.

Parents Name Child Dovahkiin - Child Scarred For Life

Prior to release, Bethesda revealed a fan challenge. In which any parent who names their child Dovahkhinn will get Bethesda games free for life. That challenge has been met as one crazy parent named his child DovahKiin Tom Kellermeyer. Sigh... if yo ask me, Bethesda should do more than just give them free games. How about a sponsorship for education? Congrats to the couple and may the Dragonborn arise to save us from apocalypse in the future.

The Making of Risen 2 Episode 1 Video - Creating Worlds

Piranha Bytes upcoming Risen 2 RPG is set to shake things up a bit. It's got pirates, potentially giant squids(which is already a win in my book) and more pirates... and erm... dark water? The developers talk(from a jungle in some remote location...I'm sure) about creating the world of Risen 2 in this first part of a making of series. Risen 2: Dark Waters releases in 2012. User Made Tool That Allows You To Install Steam Games Anywhere

I seemed to have missed this. RPS wrote about a user made tool that would allow you to install your Steam games anywhere on any hard drive. If you've been using Steam for a while, you'll know how annoying it is that you are limited to only games in your Steam folder(which means your brand spanking new 1TB hard disk would be unused unless you transfer you entire Steam install to that HD). Previously it was possible to do it, but it was rather complicated and required you jumping through lots of hoops. I haven't used this yet, but looks rather simple to use. Check it out here . Thanks RPS.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations Previously On Trailer

The Assassin's Creed story is as convoluted as Malaysian politics. APB Reloaded Live Action Trailer Has Sexy Gals

I don't know what you think about this, but clearly an attempt to get a bit more eye balls on this game. APB, the game that virtually killed Realtime Worlds(which was made up of former Rockstar employees). I haven't actually checked this game out since it was bought over and made into a free to play MMOFPS. Maybe I should(naah the sexy gals didn't work :-P ). Check out the live action trailer below...

People Love Skyrim - Sets New Steam Record

Surprised? A single player only game topping the top seller and concurrent user charts. Yesterday, there was a total of 231, 593 gamers playing Bethesda's latest and long awaited Elder Scrolls V. Today, it topped that and hit 287,411 concurrent players. The nearest competitor? Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 at 86,832 players. Which may not be a real indicator of the FPS battle considering there is no Battlefield 3 on Steam just yet(there are rumours it might be there soon... not confirmed). Also the multiplayer for MW3, yeah guess what if you play on dedicated servers, no unlocks or level progression... yeah you got to play peer to peer to be able to unlock stuff in the meta game. This sort of proves single player games are still a force to be reckoned with and no.... you don't need multiplayer or coop in every game. You can check the Steam stats here, updated regularly.

Battlefield 3 'Cheaters' Banned By The Hundreds

Well this was sort of expected. Popular game release, lots of people playing, and some would attempt to cheat(or look like cheating) and get their account banned. Fair? Unfair? sound off in the comments. Those found to have been using exploits has had their stats wiped. So there's a glitch with the engineer repair tool which allows players to rack up massive points I hear. And this is being patched out soon. There's bound to be the few that claim they were unfairly banned or had had their stats wiped which I'm sure some might have not been using exploits etc(this always happens). Which is why BF3 needs a replay system like the Modern Warfare games.
