The reason, Ghost Recon will be available to be PC in the form of the free to play Ghost Recon Online, which they claim takes inspiration from Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Is it a coincidence that I'm running two stories back to back about Ubisoft explaining why they aren't doing a PC version of their game? This time, Ghost Recon Online Producer, Sebastian Arnoult explained to PC Gamer "When we started Ghost Recon Online we were thinking about Ghost Recon: Future Soldier; having something ported in the classical way without any deep development, because we know that 95% of our consumers will pirate the game". Great... it's the same reason... piracy.
He went on to explain that Ghost Recon Online is how they are adapting Future Soldier for the PC market. He added "We are giving away most of the content for free because there’s no barrier to entry. To the users that are traditionally playing the game by getting it through Pirate Bay, we said, ‘Okay, go ahead guys. This is what you’re asking for. We’ve listened to you – we’re giving you this experience. It’s easy to download, there’s no DRM that will pollute your experience." Okay so it's not so bad, but is he really genuine in claiming Ghost Recon Online is the PC adaptation of Future Soldier? I personally don't think so.But at least we'll be getting one Ghost Recon title right? Watch the E3 trailer for Ghost Recon Online below...
"95% of our consumers will pirate the game"... lame... so is it 95% of American or what? Developers nowadays just looking for excuse. It's PC Gamers' freedom to do whatever they want with the piece of codes they bought with their cash. 95% seems way too exaggerated.
