Steam Greenlight Goes Live - Pick Indie Games To Be On Steam

Steam's crowd sourced indie game approval thingie, Steam Greenlight is now live. There's about 416 games to be rated on there. Make sure you pick Project Zomboid, a sandbox zombie game that's very cool. If a game gets a certain number of ratings, it will be given priority to be released on Steam. This will make indie developers very happy, but I can foresee lots of social network spam to get games highly rated. Do you have any game on Steam Greenlight that you really like? Share it in the comments.

Medal of Honor Warfighter Sniper: SEAL 6 Team Combat Training Series Episode 1

New video for Medal of Honor Warfighter interviews Darth Vader... seriously though, it's a military consultant that worked with EA on the game. His identity and voice has been made unrecognisable for security reasons. Snipers despite their habit to annoy us in multiplayer, is still a staple class in first person shooters. Medal of Honor Warfighter releases October 23rd. Watch the video below...

Battlefield 3 Armored Kill DLC Alborz Mountain Flythrough Video

DICE Senior Environmental Artist, Andrew Hamilton details how they are going a step further with the Armored Kill DLC. They aren't just making new maps with the same old detail but upping the level of detail and texture resolution on them. You can read the blog post where he details the level of detail on the Alborz Mountain map(one of the maps in the Armored Kill DLC). They also released a flythrough video of the map.... just the detail of the environment. You can imagine guys running around and tanks blasting away. Armored Kill will be available next month.Watch it below...

Need For Speed Most Wanted 'Find It, Drive It' Gameplay Trailer

EA released a new trailer for Need For Speed Most Wanted. This time, they ain't messing about. It's a full 5 minutes gameplay trailer. Shows how you change into a different car and drop into races seamlessly... well almost. There is some load time in between. I'm excited since this is a Criterion Games production, and they know how to make games with lots of fast cars. I'm worried since this is their second EA partnership with their first one being Need For Speed Hot Pursuit.. If they keep at it putting one of these out every year, we could have a similar situation with what EA did with Need For Speed franchise in the first place, but with Criterion taking the brunt. Need for Speed Most Wanted releases November 2nd. Watch the trailer below...

Bethesda Announces Hearthfire DLC For Skyrim - Build A House, Adopt A Child

Bethesda announced a new DLC will be available for Skyrim next week. And predictably, it's announced only for the XBOX360. Hearthfire will finally add the option to build your own house in Skyrim. Sounds very cool that you can build different type of rooms. Heck, you can even adopt a child and become a parent... hmm... maybe that doesn't sound as nice. I suppose this is where you go to once you retire from the adventuring life. Fellow former adventurer. his DLC costs USD$5 and has not been announced for the PC yet. I'm sure this will be available on the PC a little later. Watch the trailer below...

Lucasarts has released a short developer video talking about their upcoming Star Wars game, Star Wars 1313. In this video, the devs go into detail bout level 1313 on Coruscant (the location where this game is set). It's the seedy underbelly of Coruscant and all manner of vermin and questionable characters reside here. Watch the video below...

Problem is... it is underwater in this water planet. The Leviathan DLC will be the first story based DLC for Mass Effect 3. It's taken Bioware quite a while to come out with this one. The DLC will be available on August 28th. Watch the trailer below...

XCOM: Enemy Unknown 'Casualties of War' Trailer

Here's a new trailer for the Firaxis reimagining of X-COM, XCOM: Enemy Unknown. It goes over dramatic with the narration. The message of the trailer is that you can loose your XCOM operatives. You need to care for them, train them, keep them safe, make sure they eat well... okay this ain't tamagotchi or the Sims. This is serious shit. People get killed and earth gets invaded. XCOM: Enemy Unknown releases October 9. Watch the trailer below...

Dishonored Trailer Dissects How Stealth Works In Game

Bethesda has put out another video for Dishonored... which is not a bad thing. More Dishonored trailers and videos is good! The supernatural assassin, Corvo has got some abilities at his disposal. If you decide to use them, you can move around like a ghost. Avoid confrontation when you can, and the reward of playing a a clean game with a clean hit... priceless. Watch the video below...

New Screenshot Of Survarium Shows Abandoned Farm

Vostok Games have posted a single new image of Survarium. See some exciting farm action with... a lack of, wild life. Actually the screenshot looks good. Lots of nice details in the terrain and foliage. No release date yet for the MMOFPS, Stalker'ish shooter. Check out the new screenshot below...

Grand Theft Auto V Screenshots Show Some Mode Of Transportation

Rockstar has pt out three new screenshots of Grand Theft Auto V. The screenshots don't show much in terms of gameplay, but gives an idea of the mundane mode of transport to the crazy fighter jets that you will be able to fly. I'm expecting lots of bicycle stunts, how bout dropping with a bicycle from a 60 storey building? Grand Theft Auto V is expected for a late 2013 release. Check out the screenshots below...

World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria Cinematic Trailer - Panda P8wns Orc & Human

Blizzard has released the intro cinematic to World of Warcraft: Mist of Pandaria. Like other cinematics from Blizzard, it's top notch in quality. Mist of Pandaria launches on September 25th and will unlock all races for all players. However, classes will still be limited to those that own specific expansion packs. The latest expansion might be the last, as Blizzard goes into full gear into development of their next MMO project 'Titan'. We might hear a bit about Tital this year, but Blizzard being Blizzard... no guarantee of it. Cinematic trailer below...

To be clear, this test will be for the multiplayer experience only. We will begin with a select group, including many players who assisted us in testing Patch 1.5, as well as some pro-gamers and press. Over time, we will add more and more testers into the mix." Paradox Interactive Announces Europa Universalis IV

Paradox announced the fourth in their(now) longest running series. Europa Universalis IV will use the new Clausewitz engine and will feature a revamped trade system as well as a new leader trait system inspired by their newer entry, Crusader Kings 2. Personally I would love to see a more realistic and fun trade mechanic in the game for those wanting to develop nations that focus on trade. That has been the most boring and simplistic aspect of the game. Europa Universalis IV is due out Q3 2013. Announcement trailer below...

Total War: Rome II Screenshots Show Street Battles & Massive Sieges

For the glory of Rome! Creative Assembly released 4 juicy new screenshots of Total War: Rome II which shows close up shots of battles, as well as massive armies in sieges(with their siege towers, which this time around, looks more realistic). Some of the shots genuinely look like something I've seen in the history channel. Rome II looks to introduce new engine tech allowing for much bigger battles, new naval attacks in sieges, and bring in the improvements the developers have made to the series in Shogun 2. Total War: Rome II is due out in 2013. Screenshots below...

Command & Conquer Generals 2 Turned Into A Free To Play Game

The reveal late last year that new Bioware studio, Bioware Victory is working on Command & Conquer Generals 2 caught many by surprise and truly made many excited(could this be the first good Command & Conquer game in a long while?). EA decided to pull an even bigger surprise at Gamescom 2012 today by announcing that Generals 2 has been renamed to just Command & Conquer and it will be a free to play title. It's still an RTS powered by the amazing FrostBite 2 engine(Battlefield 3), but it will be available for everyone for free. EA press statement "We are thrilled about this opportunity to transform Command & Conquer into a premier online experience. For nearly two decades, this franchise has existed as something you buy; now we are creating a destination where our fans will be able to access the entire Command & Conquer universe, starting with Generals and continuing with Red Alert, Tiberium and beyond. With Frostbite 2, we are able to keep an emphasis on the AAA quality our consumers expect while staying true to the RTS gameplay they know and love – all available online for free." You can register for the beta here. Watch the trailer below...

Dishonored Minimum & Recommended PC Requirements

Bethesda has posted up the minimum and recommended system specs for the highly anticipated stealth assassination game, Dishonored. It's not too demanding but take not of the Video RAM required in graphics card. If you're(like me) running an old video card with less than 512MB, you might want to upgrade your graphics card. It also needs 4GB of system RAM which might surprise some(but memory is so cheap now). Dishonored releases on October 9th, so you still have sometime to get prepared. Minimum and recommended specs below:

UPDATE Gamescom 2012: Dead Space 3 Gameplay Trailer - Releasing February 5 2013

UPDATE: Dead Space 3 has been given a February 5 2013 release date. February 8 in Europe.

The latest trailer for Dead Space 3 shows more space station action than the previous once. This is more like Dead Space! Isaac is still plagued by visions and voices. Will he go mad for good? Watch the Gamescom 2012 trailer below...

Gamescom 2012: Star Wars 1313 Gameplay Trailer

If there is any one game(apart from Crysis 3) where I can't distinguish between CG cutscene and actual gameplay footage, Star Wars 1313 would be it. When it was unveiled at E3 2012, it wowed everyone with its realistic graphics and particle effects. The demo ran on a PC and the devs were very clear about the power of the PC as opposed to the ageing consoles. No release date for the game yet... just enjoy the footage for now. Gameplay trailer below(it's mostly from the same E3 demo except for a few brief new scenes)...

Gamescom2012: Assassin's Creed III Naval Battles Trailer

No Assassin's Creed isn't turning into a strategy game, but Ubisoft chose to feature this as their Gamescom trailer. As Connor, relive his experience on the Aquila as they face some rough weather at sea and take on some hostile ships. This isn't Total War but it's nice to see a major franchise have some good old fashion naval battle. Watch the naval battles trailer below...

Gamescom 2012: Crysis 3 Introduces Hunter Mode Multiplayer

This is essentially Predator mode, where you play as a Predator.. but this is Crysis, so it's Nanosuit hunters against CELL operatives. You take on the role of the hunter or the hunted and you either stop the CELL getting to their EVAC zone or as the CELL get to the EVAC zone. Use stealth and stop the CELL. This mode should have been in the original Crysis since this has always been what Crysis has always been about. Making you feel like a bad ass hunter. Watch the trailer below...

Gamescom 2012: Need For Speed Most Wanted Multiplayer Trailer

Fast cars, extreme coppers, lots of accidents, sparks flying, add Criterion and you have a new Need For Speed Most Wanted. Also, one of the best uses of The Who's Baba O'Riley(cover) in a video. Need For Speed Most Wanted releases November 2nd. Watch the multiplayer trailer below...

Gamescom 2012: Medal of Honor Warfighter Fireteam Multiplayer Trailer

Can't get enough of gorgeous new footage from Medal of Honor Warfighter? You're in luck since Gamescom 2012 is now in session and EA just released a new trailer for it. The FrostBite 2 powered game will feature a fireteam from all over the world. I don't know why, but while the first Medal of Honor's multiplayer seemed like an after thought Call of Duty clone, this one looks like something they are creating that is uniquely MoH. Perhaps much of this perception is merely due to the amazing visuals... we shall have to wait and see. Medal of Honor Warfighter releases October 23rd. Trailer below...

Team Fortress 2 Adding A Third Robotic Faction? Powered By Australium? Who knows!

You heard em' soldier! Apparently some evil cretin is up to no good. A static page on Team Fortress.com talks about Gray who was stolen from child birth. What has this got to do with a third faction? I do not know. NeoGAF users picked up on a new TF2 comic called Bloodbrother. It's all flippin' confusing and cryptic. I'll just summarise it for you. People on the internetz has uncovered a Valve ARG that hints towards the addition of a new mode called Mann vs Machine which probably will add a robotic faction. Keep an eye out for more details.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown Will Have Multiplayer - Say What?

Gamespot exclusively revealed that the X-COM re-imagining, XCOM: Enemy Unknown will feature a multiplayer mode. Okay... this is not what I was looking for in an XCOM game but I suppose... no harm in getting an extra feature right? XCOM's multiplayer is a 1v1 death match. Each player has 10,000 points to purchase units in your squad(6 units the ideal sweet spot) and... heresy!... you can mix Alien and human units. XCOM: Enemy Unknown releases October 9th. Multiplayer video below...

Crysis 3 Tech Trailer - Includes Tessellated Toad Tech

Crytek showcases the beauty of CryENGINE 3 with Crysis 3 in game footage. The tessellated vegetation looks incredibly realistic. But surely a vast majority of gamers would not be able to run Crysis 3 looking like this. Running this would probably require the highest end in the latest graphics cards technology. Watch the tech trailer below...

Battle.net Hacked - Your Account Might Be Compromised

Blizzard posted a rather important notice on Blizzard.com regarding account security. Apparently some mischievous hackers have managed to break into the Blizzard internal servers and some information has been illegally accessed. Information such as user email, personal security questions, and Blizzard Dial In authenticator information has all been compromised. Blizzard states that no billing or financial information of customers has been stolen by the hackers. This is a North American server intrusion so those that stick with the Asian server is generally safe. If you log in to the North American servers, Blizzard recommends that you change your password.

Dishonored Creative Kills Trailer - Near 5 Minutes Of Insane Kills

Just how many different ways can you kills the bad guys in Dishonored? Answer: Quite a lot. Bethesda released this footage of a collection of creative kills from the devs that worked hard to make those kills. Think about it... someone must have thought of each one of them and tried them out. Hats off to you fellow! Slowing down time, possessing an enemy guard and moving him in front of the bullet he shot is probably one of the coolest kills I have ever seen in a video game! Watch the video below...

Steam To Sell Non-Games Software - Now I Can Use Steam For The Purpose Of Work

Valve announced that their digital distribution platform, Steam, will begin to carry non-games software. Beginning September 5th, a range of creativity and productivity software will be making its way onto the platform. Using Steam Cloud as an added advantage, most titles will enable you to save your work on the cloud. Not sure what I think of this. Selling non-games is cool, but using Steam as a workspace is a bit tricky. Oooo look at all the hundreds of games in my library staring at me. Valve will be using Steam Greenlight to crowd source approval of software entries.

GRID 2 Announcement Trailer - Codemasters Back With The Sequel To GRID

GRID was rather popular with the racing fans. It was a solid racer with a mechanic of rewinding time to fix any screw up you did. It had a very competitive multiplayer scene. Codemasters announces GRID 2! Due out Summer 2013, an updated version of the EGO engine with more stat progression than you can shake a stick at. They have a social network thing called Race.net(oh boy... so many games with some sort of website tie in). Details are pretty scarce for now but apparently it's been in pre production for 2 years now(probably engine work). GRID has never been about simulation or super realistic racing but always was about a sweet spot of arcadish racing and realism. Will be keeping an eye on this one. Check out the début trailer below...

Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Multiplayer Trailer - Guys Cover Their Faces

Treyarch's Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 gets a multiplayer trailer. It's what you expect out of a Call of Duty game multiplayer... but with futuristic high tech stuff. Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 releases 13th November. Check out the trailer after the jump...

DayZ Standalone Game In The Works! - Survive The Zombie Apocalypse Without Arma 2

DayZ, the Arma 2 mod has been somewhat of a phenomenon. It's hit a million users and has without a doubt, increased the sales of Arma 2 exponentially. The creator of DayZ, Dean Hall, has confirmed that a standalone game is in the works. The game will be made with Bohemia Interactive(devs of Arma 2) with Dean Hall as the project lead, so we can expect it will run on a similar engine... potentially the Arma 3 engine, this has NOT been confirmed. No info on what engine the standalone DayZ game will be in. The mod creator says that DayZ the mod will still get updates and improvements while development on the game progresses. DayZ the standalone game will use this site here as the official website. They'll follow the Minecraft model of development, which means early access to alpha version and quick iterations and improvements on the game. Keep an eye out for announcements on an early version of the game, but don't expect it to be out so soon. DayZ for those not in the know is a multiplayer zombie infested survival game where you get spawned in a world with zombies and survivors with barely anything to begin with. Group up, do anything to survive.

Diablo III Goes Social - Character Profiles Now Available On Official Site

Want to buddy up with that Barbarian? Or friend that hot Demon Hunter chick? Well now y... Okay well not really, but all your characters now appear in a character profile screen on battle.net. You can view your heroes stats, gear, and skills outside of the game now... on the internetz! A career tab on yur profile will give you info on how far you've gone in Diablo III, your quest progress, bosses killed etc. There's also a friend tab where you can have a glimpse and compare with your BattleTag friends characters. I'm just surprised it took Blizzard this long to come up with the profile on their site. More developers are creating online social sites to go with their game on launch day and Blizzard taking their own time with it... let just say that web development is not like game development. You can't just say it's done when it's done.

New Dishonored Screenshots Get Freaky With Masks & Hats - Hat DLC Confirmed?

There's a bunch of new very pretty Dishonored screenshots posted by PC Gamer. I love how this game looks, like a cross between concept art and flashy, beautiful in game graphics. Certainly a very unique art style. Not surprising since it's from Arkane Studio(Arx Fatalis) and a studio. Dishonored is a stealth/action game set in an alternate universe where you play the Assassin Corvo as he moves through the city of Dunwall to strike his targets. You can view the gameplay demo here. Check out the new screenshots below...

Valve Working On Source 2?

Valvetime.net posted up a bit of some snooping work in the Source Film Maker script films and dug up lines that refer to a Source 2 engine. '''Return an str with the current engine version. If key doesn't doesn't exist, assume 'Source', otherwise invalid -- assume next-gen 'Source 2'.''' This would make sense considering Source has been used since the release of Half Life 2. While the engine has been upgraded and improved over time, it is about time they moved on with an improved version of Source. Probably explains why Half Life 2 Episode 3 is taking forever. My guess is that it's been changed to Half Life 3. This is no official word from Valve, so take it as a rumour.

QuakeCon 2012 John Carmack Keynote & Game Panel Videos

It's that time of the year where id Software fanboys throng Dallas, Texas to pay homage to the pioneer game development studio, listen in on the talks and talk part in the BYOC LAN parties. 1-Minute Gaming News - August 4 2012

UPDATE: Dawnguard Released For The PC

UPDATE: There was hardly any announcement. But as Quakecon 2012 opened its doors, Skyrim's first DLC, Dawnguard, appeared on Steam. You can now purchase it on Steam! Pete Hines is such a teaser. In Dawnguard, the Vampire Lord, Lord Harkon is back and is planning to do bad things. You can actually choose to become a Vampire Lord yourself!

There's not been any news from Bethesda of a release date for the first major DLC for Skyrim on the PC. It's been out for a month on the XBOX360 and has yet to be released for the PS3 and even PC. Pete Hines from Bethesda tweeted "We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I’d tell you." It is interesting that they are taking a lot longer to announce the DLC's release on other platforms. "I was simply stating that expecting/demanding something today is unfounded. Not that news is never coming. Sometimes it’s better to say nothing until you can provide solid info than say something before you can" he added. I think this is the perfect time to release some new official content for Skyrim other than mods. Might take a bit longer for us to get our hands on Dawnguard on the PC, but I'd still say likely.

World Of Battleships Now Renamed World Of Warships

So what's the difference between battleships and warships? I suppose battleships are restricted to ships like heavy cruisers, used to bombard and attack other ships. Warships are just about any ship used in a war, except... I'm pretty sure NOT supply ship... that would make for a boring game(but certain no lack of tension). World of Warships will feature aircraft carriers, battleships, heavy cruiser, light destroyer and many more ships of war that can make strategic and tactical moves in the sea of battle including sudden strikes from cover, cunning flanking attacks or open head-to-head encounters. Wargaming.net plans to unify World of Tanks, World of Warplanes and World of Warships into a single gigantic global battlemap with a common currency and resources that is transferable across all three titles. World of Warships is scheduled for a 2013 release. Watch the debut trailer below...

CD Projekt's Cyberpunk Character Customisation To Have A Strong Impact On Plot

CD Projekt's recently announced Cyberpunk, based on Mike Pondsmith's pen n paper RPG of the same name has been a bit of a blank slate. CD Projekt has not touched much about it other than to say it will be a mature RPG game. CD Projekt did a short Q&A with their community which you can read here, in which they reveal that character customisation could have an impact on the plot of the game. Unlike The Withcer, Cyberpunk is a class based roll playing game so depending on your class gameplay and story will be different. "As opposed to the regular fantasy set-up with mages, warriors and archers, we’re going for something different. In Cyberpunk, each character role will offer a set of special skills that will impact your stats in many different ways. That’s where the challenge kicks in, we want to create a game where character customization will be strongly tied with the plot." CD Projekt couldn't reveal when we'll get to see new asset of a video of the game, but stay tuned for more info. Read the Q&A here.

Far Cry 3 Co-op Walkthrough Video - 4 Players, One Deadly Island

Ubisoft reveals that Far Cry 3 will feature 4 player co-op. The co-op will be a separate segment of the game, 6 months before the events in the single player campaign(which probably means you should play co-op before diving into the single player campaign). The video just glances through some features in co-op including something called a battle cry that will buff up your team mates. Far Cry 3 releases November 29th. Watch the video below...
