SEGA announced a standalone expansion pack(which means you wouldn't need Total War: Shogun 2) titled Fall of The Samurai. The expansion pack adds six new clans, an foreign powers in the form of America, France, & Britain, new tech trees, new building... all points to a later time period. It's the 19th century(The Boshin War period which starts at 1864), and you have infrastructure like railway to spur industrial growth. A clash between the new Victorian era armies and the Samurai. Hence the title... fall of the samurai...I shed a tear. The expansion is planned for a March 2012 release. Check out the announcement trailer below...
