Magicka: The Other Side Of The Coin DLC Trailer - Play As The Bad Guy

Arrowhead Games have released the first trailer for the upcoming DLC for Magicka, The Other Side of The Coin. They are flipping things over and you are now controlling shady characters(no more Wizards!). Play as Alucart(yeah we know this reference) and his henchmen necromancers. This one is more like Magicka: Vietnam but with 4 new challenge maps, and objective based campaign with new story. The necromancers are out to kill Vlad! Will they(or rather you) succeed? Check out the trailer below...

The Showdown Effect Recorded Gameplay Footage

Magicka devs did a live stream of a gameplay demo for The Showdown Effect, their upcoming PvP action title and you can bet... will have lots of friend killing(in video games, this is a good thing). There's a good 20 odd minutes of gameplay here with the lads from Arrowhead Games narrating through the whole way. Video below...

Magicka The Stars Are Left DLC Impressions

With the release of their previous DLC expansion, Magicka Vietnam, Arrowhead Games got plenty of feedback that players wanted more Magicka styled campaign missions. Vietnam was deemed too short as it featured only 2 levels(which were challenge missions, you raced against a clock with minimal story). They've heard the fans loud and clear... and for The Stars Are Left, they were determined to make a proper Magicka DLC campaign.

Magicka Free Weekend On Steam - 75% Off

Paradox are having a massive Magicka sale on Steam this weekend. The base game will be free just this weekend and if you decide to buy it, it is 75% off(which would make it only USD$2.49... which is a steal!). Yes the game is a lot less buggy now. All DLC's are also discounted so you can grab those while you're at it. This is in preparation for the release of the Stars are Left expansion which will be out on the 22nd(next week). Here's a developer QA of the upcoming expansion...

Magicka: The Stars Are Left Announced!

Magicka was definitely one of my favourite small developer titles in recent time. Despite the bugs at launch, it has managed to stay fresh with it's charming humour and new maps that continue to challenge players. You'll need a good group of 4 players to take on most of the mission(until you've found that overpowering magick that you'll be abusing most of the time). Paradox today announced an expansion, The Star Are Left. It adds a bunch of new levels in a new adventure which promises "players to get lost in space and time". It's due out this Winter so not too long before we get some real content for Magicka. Hurrah! Trailer and press release after the jump...

Magicka Gets Player Versus Player Action - Now You Can Kill Your Friends For Real

Paradox and Arrowhead Games announced that the PvP update for Magicka, has gone live. Sometimes wizards don't always get along. And when they have a disagreement? They face off on the battlefield. There's three PvP multiplayer modes including a rather unique Kreitor mode(named after the modder who started making PvP work) where you'll only have a few magic and gain new spells in regular intervals. Someone pass me Vortex please... They've also released 3 new maps which you can purchase(each) for USD$0.99. Magicka is on a 50% discount on Gamersgate to celebrate the release of this update. 'Trailer' below...

Magicka: Vietnam Impressions - “I put on my wizard robe and helmet”

Magicka: Vietnam, was almost written off as an April Fool's joke (despite the fact it was announced a full month before) when they dropped a trailer on that day. It continues Arrowhead's tradition of trying to squeeze as many parodies and game references as possible, while trying to remain somewhat fantasy related. From the trailer, it's pretty obvious which was the priority for this DLC.

Magicka: Vietnam Developer Video Interview - Bird Is The Word

No birds in this video this time. Arrowhead Games CEO, Johan Pilestedt, explains the move to Vietnam in the new Magicka DLC. Natural progression if you ask me. It makes complete sense that a bunch of wizards travel to Vietnam to help war efforts. Why haven’t more developers thought of this before? Magicka: Vietnam adds one arena map and a rescue mission(in the challenge mode). The DLC costs USD$5.00 and you can grab Magicka now with a 50% discount. Developer video interview below…

Magicka: Vietnam Launched - Kick GoblinCong Arse

What has been one of my favourite games this year, Magicka, has got a new DLC out now! Magicka: Vietnam is live! The press release says “Answer the call of duty to take up arms against the Goblin-Cong, trudging through a napalm-scorched battlefield with a bad company of up to four wizard GIs”… sweet. They’ve released a launch trailer to celebrate the release of this DLC. Look closely for a cameo appearance from a certain ‘John’. Well played Arrowhead Games. Magicka: Vietnam costs a meagre USD$4.99. Magicka is now discounted for 50% off on all major digital distribution services, so if you haven’t got it yet, it’s an absolute steal! Release trailer below…

Total Biscuit Takes On Magicka Vietnam

The Cynical Brit is at it again. This time, he’s had the opportunity to play Magicka Vietnam, a downloadable expansion to the wacky debut title for Arrowhead Games, Magicka. He’s uploaded a 13 minute video of a play through of Magicka Vietnam. If you have Magicka, you know what to expect with Vietnam. Magicka Vietnam comes out on April 12th for only USD$4.99. If you like his stuff, subscribe to his YouTube channel. Watch the preview video below…

Magicka Vietnam Gets Release Date And Price Point

Arrowhead Games crazy downloadable expansion, Magicka Vietnam has a rel4ease date. You wont have to wait very long for it. It’ll be out on April 12th and priced at USD$4.99. That’s an absolute steal. Magicka is an incredibly fun and addictive coop game and Magicka Vietnam will be adding new weapons, staffs, and all new assets. And hey, it’s set in Vietnam. On top of that, you'll apparently be able to play Vietnam even if you don't own it. As long as the person hosting the game owns Magicka Vietnam. Now that's a first! Every game needs a Vietnam expansion. I’ve posted four new screenshots of Magicka Vietnam below…

Magicka: Vietnam Announced! Really? Trailer Available - My Mind Is Blown!

Those wacky folks at Arrow Head Games are at it again. Announcing something that I can hardly believe. But it is real. Magicka: Vietnam is real! The first expansion to Magicka will be a romp in the jungles of Vietnam with up to four wizards! Well makes perfect sense. They are saying it will be available on all major digital distribution platforms soon. No word on price point. Announcement trailer below…

Magicka To Get PvP In The Near Future

Johan Pilestedt, CEO for Arrow Head Games in an interview with Joystiq revealed that they will be adding official support for PvP in Magicka in the near future. According to him, the community has found a way to play the game in PvP for some time now(the game as it is, only has coop for now). ”The community is already arranging PvP tournaments and we are learning a lot about balance by watching you play,” he said. Arrow Head Games are closely watching those community organised events and looking out for balance. Expect to see PvP patched in(no ETA). In the interview, Johan also stated that he was disappointed he couldn’t add in support for integrated graphics chips. Adding that their choice early on development was to go with Shader Model 3.0 and they do not have enough bandwidth to make major changes to the engine. You can read the full write up on the interview on Joystiq.
