My Impressions

Burnout Paradise The Ultimate Box for the PC is a great port. The game runs amazingly well and controls feel tight. Burnout Paradise moves away from the single races/challenges concept of the previous Burnouts and introduces and open world for you to explore. You can accept challenges and races by burning your tires out at stop lights.

Burnout Paradise is a really fast arcade racing game that has great presentation and production values. The game menus look stylish and the Paradise City(the game world) is filled with little small details and ramps(for you to make crazy jumps). The city feels like a great track to just drive like a madman with simulated traffic. The city doesn't have pedestrians, so apart from that the city feels great(driving at these speeds, you will hardly notice this).

The cars and bikes(yes there are bikes) in the game look shiny and pretty. Until of course you wreck them to bit. And my oh my! this game has some of the best crashes in a game. The way the car absorbs the shock of impact looks really realistic and is something you will never get old looking at.

The controls may irritate some people(but that is the same for most PC racing games)as using the arrow keys does hurt your finger after a while. Using a controller seems like a perfect fit.

The menus are obviously indications of its console background. You use F1 and F2 to move to different menus and changing options is just kludgy and clumsy.

I loved the fact that the game actually uses your webcam(if you have a webcam hooked up), it takes a picture of you to put on your license(you improve your license as you win challenges in game). The game also takes pictures of you when you are taken down or win races. This adds a lot of personality to the game and is a nice little touch.

Burnout Paradise is without a doubt one of the best ports of a console game for the PC. At a price of RM119, it is also great value and will no doubt offer you so much of fun that it is insane not to get it. Sure menus are consoley, graphics setting are a bit limited, but don't miss this game if you love fun racing games.
