Take Two Says There’ll Be More Duke Nukem - Hopefully With A Much Shorter Development Cycle

The bad reviews for Duke Nukem Forever hasn’t unfazed Take Two. In an interview with Forbes, Take Two CEO Strauss Zelnick admits that there’ll be more Duke IP from them. He said “ We don’t really talk about it in detail but you will see future Duke IP coming from this company. Part of it is the economic opportunities that interact with entertainment are so huge. Part of it is that we are very creative folks in control. Part of it is we don’t want to ever be in the position of dumping something down just to make another buck. If we can take some of our intellectual property and bring it to another medium in an extraordinary high quality way, that delights consumers and represents an interesting commercial opportunity for us, we will”.

Of course he could well be talking about cross platform titles such as for the mobile and maybe even the casual market. My guess is that Take Two paid a big sum of money for the IP and they would like to recoup revenue from it regardless of how Duke is perceived. Good luck Take Two. Hint… don’t take 12 years to make your next Duke game(like cough..cough 3D Realms).
