VG247 wrote a piece on NPD’s latest reports. According to the NPD, there a new category of gamers on the rise. They are called ‘digital gamers’. Digital gamers play 16 hours a week and own more games. Core gamers still lead the roost with 18 hours per week but fall a little behind in games bought. The NPD report doesn't state specifically who are digital or core gamers but my best guess are gamers that buy from digital distribution. It is without a doubt digital distribution pushes more games for the cheap(and yes it is cheaper if you take into account those discounts). However, core gamers still make up the highest percentage with 23 percent with digital gamers in last place. PC gamers make up 15 % which confuses me further. Just what the heck is a digital gamer. Aren’t PC gamers already digital gamers? Either way, digital distribution will continue to grow. Now if only our internet connections get better…
