EA Download Manager Being Rebranded As Origin - EA’s Attempt At Digital Distribution
It seems that EA has much bigger plans for their EA Download Manager. Just yesterday, they updated EADM and it has since got a new name to boot. Calling it Origin, EA are using it as the launch bed for their much anticipated upcoming MMORPG, Star Wars The Old Republic(the only place you can buy the game from online, at least for now). According to a Wall Street Journal report, Origin will be EA’s attempt at making a serious entry into the digital distribution market as a Steam rival. Although, only serving EA games, at least for now. For now, Origin is essentially just the same shell as EADM(it was just a name change) and there are no new features I saw from the previous EADM update. EA promises more detail on Origin will be revealed at E3.
