Capcom Increasing Support For PC Gaming
In a blog posting by Capcom Senior Vice President, Chris Svensson, stated that he and many people within Capcom are pushing for more PC support. According to him, the PC market teaches a company how to be a global and embrace emerging markets and new business models. He said Capcom’s strategy is to develop PC titles and learn to make them as services rather than discrete titles to do better in markets like Brazil, China, and Korea. He also goes on to explain why Japanese publishers traditionally have never seen the PC as a big market(it’s a reflection of the small PC market in Japan and even this is changing). He ends by saying “So in short, while we’re still not yet where I’d like for us to be, the future is getting better for Capcom fans who are PC gamers all over the world”. They’ve recently announced a flurry of titles that surprisingly have PC versions in the works(from Resident Evil: Racoon City to Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition). Capcom definitely knows how to target the right gamers. This makes it easy to promote to the market.
