Paradox Interactive announced today a brand new game they are working on. Titled Sengoku, it is a 15th century feudal Japan grand strategy game using Paradox’s Clausewitz engine(the same engine powering Europa Universalis III, Hearts of Iron III and Victoria 2). Paradox are calling it a character driven strategy game where you get to control a noble family in feudal Japan with the aim of uniting Japan. Sounds like a Crusader Kings in the east. Also the timing of the announcement couldn’t be much more ironic with Shogun 2 release on the horizon. Certainly an interesting choice especially after the treatment they did for Japan in Europa Universalis III Divine Wind. This will be their first ever non Euro centric game.
