You might have read my impressions on the Total War: Shogun 2 demo. I came away generally unimpressed and it’s hard to make any conclusion on the game based on that demo. Well, Mitch, a modder from the Total War Centre boards have managed to unlock the battle AI in the historical battle in the demo(the battle is scripted in the demo). Now you can see for yourself if the AI(battle AI only) is a major improvement or same old. Mitch said “I say this because it was quite frankly: the best AI I'v ever played against in a Total War battle. If the Demo AI is the Final Game AI, make no mistake, I will not be a disapointed(sic) customer”.
He seemed very impressed. Make sure you read the rest of the thread for opinions from others who have opinions that are quite contrary to his. I maintain that the Total War series did not have a major issue with its battle AI(strategic AI is where the main problem for the series has always been). When you win a battle and you’re not sure why you’ve won that battle…you know there are issues. This isn’t how a game should feel like. You should know why you won a battle…making you feel like a bad ass general. Total War: Shogun 2 releases on March 15th.
