UPDATE Not A Potential Modern Warfare 3 Reveal - Countdown Site Up
UPDATE 3: So it's confirmed that this is actually just an indie live action film inspired by Modern Warfare 2. Nothing more, nothing less. The We Can Pretend group has posted a youtube trailer of their work and linked it to the currently down findmakarov.com. You can view the indie live action film trailer below...
UPDATE 2: Joystiq reported that Geoff Keighley from Gametrailers.com claims to know the source of the findmakarov.com teaser site. It's from a Toronto based studio called We Can Pretend. Apparently they are working on a project inspired by Call of Duty and that 'production sources who worked on the self-funded project call it visually spectacular.' With Activision saying officially they are not behind the teaser site, it looks like this is just a bad PR idea from an unknown company. SIGH...
UPDATE: Activision sent word to Joystiq that they are not the ones behind the viral marketing stunt(of sending dog tags) and added that they are not revealing anything yet about MW3 and anything otherwise is a hoax. Joystiq are guessing it could be an EA stint to get the modern warfare fans attention for the Battlefield 3 reveal at GDC. Either way the countdown site is well shrouded and the owners of the site cannot be found using a Whois. Stay tuned, this might not be Modern Warfare 3...
There’s a timer over at findmakarov.com that seems to hint that there will be a reveal on something Modern Warfare related in about 5 days time(potentially at GDC). Pointers indicate that it might possibly be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3. VG247 is saying rumour has it that Infinity Ward, Raven Software and Sledgehammer Games are all working on this title. Bring on Dedicated servers damn it! Will be keeping a close eye on this. Will update you if there’s anything new.
