Expect More Warhammer 40k Licensed Games From THQ

With Warhammer 40k: Space Marine and Warhammer 40K: Dark Millennium Online, THQ made a press statement that they will be extending their multi year agreement with Games Workshop. They say it’s their most succesful IP in their roster with Warhammer 40k: Dawn of War II leading the charge with 6.5 million units shipped. My guess is you can expect Relic to make Dawn of War III. Who knows, maybe it’ll be a free to play game. The press release states they have rights to publish Warhammer 40k titles across all platforms, mobile, social and regular old video games on the PC and consoles. Press release below…

Since entering the licensing agreement with Games Workshop, THQ has published several highly successful titles based on the intellectual property (IP), including the
Warhammer^® 40,000^®: Dawn of War^® real-time-strategy games for PC systems that have shipped 6.5 million units to date. Two fresh interpretations of the Warhammer 40,000 IP are currently in development by THQ: Warhammer^®40,000^®:
Space Marine^TM – a third-person shooter for the Xbox 360^® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation^®3 computer entertainment system and PC set to release later this year – and Warhammer^® 40,000^®: Dark Millennium^TMOnline, a massively multiplayer online game exploring the deep fiction and myriad races of the IP.
