StarCraft II Alternative Subscription Pricing For SEA

I’ve ranted about this previously, but the retail price for StarCraft II(RM248) is a major obstacle for many players and I chose not to support such a pricing. It seems now there is an alternative pricing scheme using subscriptions. According to Gameaxis Online, IAH Games(distributer for Blizzard games in this region), are offering limited passes(3 days, 7 days or 30 days) that will allow you to play the single player and multiplayer portion of StarCraft II. Pricing details below:

3 Day Pass – RM 3.50
7 Day Pass – RM 7
30 Day Pass – RM 25
DVD Starter Kit with 30 Day Pass – RM 12

I think this is an excellent option for those that just want to complete the single player campaign and move on. I’m still bitter at the retail pricing and what I consider as manipulating desperate fans of a classic/profiteering, but here’s your option for playing single player. For multiplayer I’d still hold off as these subscription fees in the long term cost a lot more.

What’s unclear is when this subscription option will be available. No details are available at IAH games or the SEA battle.net page. But keep your eyes open.
