Left 4 Dead The Sacrifice Impressions

The Sacrifice is a unique DLC that Valve has released for Left 4 Dead and its sequel. A DLC released for two games. That has to be a first. Whats more interesting was the fact that the ending was spoiled by the previous The Passing DLC. Yes someone dies...we know who did. But you can change that...

So The Sacrifice sort of follows the thread after the L4D survivors escape the army base from the comic. The entire campaign is three levels long with the final one SPOILERS... taking place in the same finale area of the passing. If you read the comic and played the passing it'd make sense. You get to see Bill or whomever you chose, make their last stand.

Overall I thought The Sacrifice was okay. It wasn't bad, it wasn't that great either. I think I've been spoiled by Left 4 Dead 2's more interesting crescendo events. I thought The Passing(L4D2 DLC) was more fun due to the fact that there was way more interesting scripting going on. Which shows the weakness of Left 4 Dead's now limited crescendo types. It's either hit a button wait for the horde or walk over a trigger and wait for the horde.

But I guess I can't complain much about it that much since they were limited to the technology in Left 4 Dead. It's nice to see some nice locations and new voice overs(and new voice work for the tank, it doesn't talk, but growls more menacingly this time)

It's short and fast to the point I felt I couldn't appreciate the new environment(didn't have time to). It all went so fast. Versus seems more interesting as the finale sort of forces the survivors to split up, and there are some interesting crescendo events that is perfect for some Left 4 Dead 2 special infected. The Sacrifice is a fun short diversion. I hope to have more competitive versus matches the next few days and see how that goes. And....

No Mercy now in Left 4 Dead 2? Automatic win! Probably the most played campaign in Left 4 Dead now in Left 4 Dead 2. Will be giving this a try as well. Lots of fun little tactics with the L4D2 special infected.

PS : I've just found out that Turtle Rock Studios, the guys that made the first Left 4 Dead has left Valve and has been working on The Sacrifice and potentially other DLC's for L4D. Take a look at the credits to The Sacrifice.
