Battlefield 3 Features Trailer - What The Hell Is The Battlelog?

EA has released another new trailer for Battlefield 3. This one explains just what Battlelog is and what you can expect to be able to do with it. It's very much like a Battlefield Facebook in my humble opinion that is tied to your game closely. Thanks Yung for the heads up on this video. Executive Director Patrick Bach explains...

It's Alive! I Am Alive Confirmed To Be Alive But Not For The PC

As speculated, Ubisoft has now confirmed that I Am Alive, the survival action game that has been in development for a long long time and was put on hold indefinitely, is now back on track. But the unfortunate thing is that the announcement only stated it's going to be a downloadable title for the XBOX360 and PS3(on PSN) later this year(winter 2011). No PC version was mentioned. Which probably means it's going to be a console exclusive for sometime before a PC port is consider. I'll keep on the lookout for news on the lack of a PC version. Watch the new gameplay trailer below...

Assassin's Creed: Revelations Delayed To December 2nd For The PC

Ubisoft announced that the next chapter in the Assassin's Creed franchise, Assassin's Creed: Revelations will be delayed for the PC. It's not too bad though. The new release date for the PC is December 2nd 2011. The game was originally supposed to be released on all platforms on November 15th. PC gamers will just have to wait a bit longer.

New Rage Trailer Shows A Bandit Hideout

It's very very close now. Rage is about to be release(October 4th) and we've got another trailer showing a bit more of the game. I got to respect Id for not beating around the bush with their marketing and just showing off the game. There's some pretty cool weapons in Rage. Trailer below...

Syndicate Announcement Trailer - It's Not The Old School Syndicate

EA finally revealed Syndicate in the form of a trailer. Moving pictures of the actual game in action... looks rather good. It's just not the old Syndicate. Sorry guys... but this is just a different game. There's some interesting concepts here like taking control of another character and what not. And yeah the release date is confirmed. It's February 21st 2012. Watch the trailer below...

Might & Magic Heroes VI Blood Trailer - Lots of Angels & Demons

There's a new trailer up for Might & Magic Heroes VI. A story trailer showing the different factions in a blood feud with each other. Not sure what the narrative is all about but you can bet there'll be some old school Might & Magic Heroes action here(even if the trailer doesn't show of gameplay). Releasing on October 13th. Trailer below...

EA's Syndicate reboot(an FPS game) which I wrote about here, is getting a February 21st 2012 release date. Gamasutra reported that EA announced the release date but did not clarify if this also included the PC version. Anyway I hope it is. Will update this post if EA updates the release date to take into account the platform.

I Am Alive Refuses To Die - ESRB Rates The Game

VG247 reported that the ESRB has put out a rating for the game that has not been shown or talked about for ages(the last post I made on this game was in Jan 2009). I Am Alive was given an M for Mature rating and has  blood, intense violence, sexual themes and strong language throughout, with sexual mistreatment implied at one stage. I don't understand why would a game that has not even been re revealed get a rating. Ubisoft has been pretty tight lipped about it(with Montreal confirmed to be working on Splinter Cell 6). The survival action game has not even had any proper gameplay footage other than just that one cinematic of a city ravaged by earthquake. Oh yeah there was that leaked footage which Ubisoft has yanked off Youtube. That might be a sign of something. I Am Alive... I Am Still Alive announcement from Ubisoft soon?

Delayed! Petroglyph's Free To Play MMORTS Coming Next Year

Petroglyph announced that the MMORTS End of Nations will not be released this year. It's a 2012 title(no specific date was given). Initially planed for release late this year, End of Nations was to bring massive PvP and coop RTS games to a whole new level. According to VG247, in the recent Eurogamer expo live demo, they showed off a new cap of 26 players instead of the 50 player battle which may suggest that they are having some network performance issues to deal with.  It is unclear if they have drop the whole idea of a 50 player RTS game. Either way, I'm sure we'll hear more perhaps early next year.

Actually I've had bastion the previous week. It's just that I was very busy the last week. I'm quite impressed by what I've played of the game.

King Arthur: Fallen Champions First Play

I play Neocore's rather odd 'in between' game( don't know what else to call this). A prequel to a sequel, it's not a entire King Arthur campaign, but a collection of story based quests and battles. There's not territories to manage or units to recruits(other than the one you recruit in the story). It's bloody cheap though. Check out my first play video below...

Raptr Boasts 10 Million Users!

Raptr posted in a blog post that the social gaming site/app has reached 10 million users. This, in my mind, makes it the biggest social gaming thingie(I'm not even sure what you call things like these). I've been using Raptr myself and they've improved quite a bit. The Raptr client is lighter, less resource hungry than it used to be. It may not have the recording in game footage and screenshot taking tools other competing social gaming apps have but it does tracking your game hours extremely well. Maybe not all games are supported but they work fast on adding as many titles to their list of supported games. I think the number though(10 million users) is due to the fact that it works across consoles too(tracking XBOX360, PS3 and Wii games) giving it an edge over other PC only apps. It's also a rather useful tool to connect to gamers in your country/location or gamers who play the same type of games as you do. So what social gaming site/app do you use? Or do you even use one? You can add me to your Raptr friends list here

Star Wars The Old Republic Finally Given Release Date

Bioware are pretty damn sure now. The date is 20th December 2011. You'll need to pre order though since launch spot will actually be limited... despite the fact that you're buying a digital version with no theoretical amount of stock. The reason? To control the amount of players during the launch to make sure launch goes without a hitch. You can pre order SWTOR here.

Deus Ex: Human Revolution Missing Link DLC Developer Walkthrough Video

Eidos Montreal has put up this walkthrough video for the first DLC to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Looks like the DLC will be a really hardcore stealth mission type in the beginning stages. Diablo 3 To Be Released Early 2012

It's a bit surprising but Blizzard has announced that Diablo 3 isn't going to make it this year. I'm not surprised. The closed beta just started and they say they need more time with the beta and plan to roll the game out... hopefully early 2012. Mike Morhaime, Blizzard CEO stated "The beta test is going very well, and we look forward to making the most of the extra time we’re taking to deliver an experience that lives up to our vision for the game and the expectations of our players. Next year is going to be an incredibly busy one for Blizzard, and we hope an incredibly fun one for Blizzard gamers." Hopefully they'll also open up the beta to more people... but I'm pretty sure it will still be invite only. Blizzard is pretty restrictive about betas and who they allow into them. Hey... at least you'll have the time this year to play other games released this year.

Valve Wants To Release DOTA 2 Sooner Than Announced Release Date

When Valve announced during GamesCom 2011 that DOTA 2 will be released in 2012. Apparently this isn't early enough and the fans clamoured for an earlier release. Icefrog in a post on the official blog outlined a new plan... release the game early... by this year and get more people playing and improving on the game. He said "We’re going to take the current version of Dota 2, which has The International set of heroes, and get it out there as fast as we can. We’ve still got some work to do in a couple of areas, so we’ll be keeping it invite-only for a (hopefully short) period of time". A very mod like mentality(which makes sense since DoTA was a mod). This will mean that they'll be enlisting more player in on the beta. So sign up now here

XCOM Developer Diary Video 1

The folks at 2K talk about XCOM, the rethinking of a classic PC game. This is apparently an origin story. The original X-COM was set in the 21st century(present day today). Are you excited for XCOM? This game gets too  much hate. It's 2K's decision not to make a turn based tactical game. This is not a sequel... more like a re-imagining in a different genre. Watch the video below...

Paradox Announces Cartel

Paradox announced a new RTS/Tactics game called Cartel over at RPS. It's a sort of mish mash of XCOM style strategic map with research and diplomacy with real time tactics portion actually similar to classic Syndicate(which is now being made into an FPS). Paradox's Shams Jorjani told RPS in the interview "Well we’re making PC games! That’s what we do, right? And we watch the rest of the industry very closely while we’re doing that. We’ve of course noticed that there’s a trend that’s going on with AAA publishers (and actually the industry as a whole), where some companies are moving towards bigger and bigger AAA games, and others are going more and more casual in the Farmville direction. It definitely feels like a polarisation of where the companies in our industry are going. We feel, though, that the middle road, what Cliff Bleszinski says is the “dead” middle class of gaming, is where we are and have always been – cerebral games for smart gamers". The game is a strategy game that is centered around the concept of building up your future mega corporation into the biggest baddest Cartel. You can read the RPS interview for more info on the game. No solid release date other than a 12 - 18 month rought estimate of development time.

Crytek Signed Up For Homefront Sequel

Remember that THQ game, that was hyped up to be a huge blockbuster FPS game, but never lived up to all the hype? Yeah... Homefront. Despite decent sales, Kaos Studios got axed by THQ and now news has surfaced that Crytek, known for the emotionally charged(if you get why) Crysis and the CryEngine game engine has been signed up to develop Homefront 2. THQ has confirmed this. Homefront 2 is planned for release in THQ's financial year ending on March 2014, which should make it a late 2013 game... if Crytek delivers. So do you guys think Homefront 2 will finally be a top notch triple AAA game? And yes... this will likely use the CryEngine.

Batman: Arkham City Delayed For The PC

We'll be getting it on November instead of the original October 18th. They haven't released a more specific date but I'm assuming the porting process is turning out to be more complex that they expected. So not only is the PC version getting delayed, it will use Games For Windows Live. The extent we PC gamers would go to to play the games we love :s

Battlefield 3 Beta Kicks Off On September 29th - Lock & Load

DICE has announced that the beta for Battlefield 3 will go live on September 29th for all platforms for everyone! Yes it's an open beta. And since they say for everyone, I'm guessing there will be no region lock... we should be able to get into this easy. Thanks to Yung for pointing this out. I'll meet you on the battlefield!... Quantum Conundrum Dev Walkthrough Video - From The Creator of Portal

There's a video out for Quantum Conundrum, which is the new game from Kim Swift. Fan of Valve might remember her as the person responsible for the making of Portal(she made Narbacular Drop as a college project which had the basic mechanics of Portal). She then left Valve and went on to work with Airtight Games on Quantum Conndrum(the studio released Dark Void to rather mediocre reviews). Quantum Conundrum however promises to be more unique. It's a puzzle game where you'll be travelling multiple dimensions and alternate world to solve puzzles. It's an exciting idea and due out in 2012 on Steam(yes... that is confirmed). Watch the dev walkthrough below...

Death Toll Beta Released For Left 4 Dead 2

You might have noticed an update for Left 4 Dead 2. Valve has released Death Toll from Left 4 Dead for Left 4 Dead 2. It's in beta so Valve wants your feedback on the map for the final release. If you remembered my last post on Left 4 Dead 2, Valve planned on releasing DLC for Left 4 Dead 2 in the summer this year(which has quickly slipped away now). It's been delayed obviously. The upcoming DLC will include the community made map, Cold Stream together with all the Left 4 Dead 1 campaigns for Left 4 Dead 2. If this wasn't enough, remembered the post I did about Valve confirming a Midnight Riders DLC? Yeah so that's almost definitely delayed... no news about that one. Will Valve be doing a Half Life 2 Episode 2 on this DLC? :s

XBOX Live On Windows 8 Confirmed - RIP Games For Windows Live

Microsoft today confirmed that the next iteration of Windows, Windows 8, will be integrating XBOX Live. Major Nelson revealed that XBOX Live on Windows "brings your games, music, movies, and TV shows to your favorite Microsoft and Windows devices". It's not clear if this means PC games will now be dumped together with this service(it makes sense though since GFW now doesn't even have it's own site). The post also talks about how devs can easily integrate XBOX Live on Windows for the games they are working on, which leads me to speculate that... yes... this is just a re branding of Games for Windows Live with connectivity to your XBOX Live profile/friends etc. Either way... RIP Games For Windows Live! You can watch the keynote presentation of Windows 8 here

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Gameplay Demo In HD

Okay so Bethesda hasn't exactly been showing us anything new here(maybe an enemy you've not seen here and there). But it's the demo we've seen from E3 but in glorious HD and narrated by Todd Howard. Battlefield 3 Leaked Gameplay Footage - Single Player Jet Mission

Someone's been a naughty boy/girl and released this footage of an XBOX360 dev build of the game. There's a bunch of other footage but I'm going to highlight just this one video since we haven't seen this before. Jet action(not the multiplayer trailer which showed only bits of it)... and an entire mission. Amazing sound design as usual. Video quality is poor and I'm not sure how long this video will last on Youtube... so watch it now...

Football Manager 2012 Releasing October 21st

Football fans and football manager wannabes can get on the latest iteration f the popular football managerial sim, Football Manager 2012 coming October 21st. Maybe you can turn around Arsenal to an impressive football squad that can give United a run for their money. Sports Interactive boss, Miles Jacobson, has detailed some of the changes and additions for FM2012 here. If you ever felt inundated with information in complex strategy games, boy you'll love this game. FM2012 is said to have a more complex and detailed team report feature.  And lets face it, you'll need it(unless some power player finds some stupid bug that can be exploited).

EA Confirms Syndicate Reboot

News broke out last week that Starbreeze is working on a first person shooter Syndicate game with some rather pretty screenshots available on the world wide web. EA has confirmed that what you heard, was right, and Starbreeze is indeed working on a first person Syndicate. Syndicate for the uninitiated is a classic real time tactics game by Peter Molyneux when he was with Bullfrog. EA now owns the license and hence here comes Starbreeze with a first person take on a tactics game. At first we had the XCOM reboot and now this. EA Partners Jeff Gamon said "Our goal with Syndicate is to provide a challenging action shooter for today’s gamers as well as fans of the original. I’m sure they will enjoy and recognize the legacy that made it such a classic". The game will feature a separate 4 player coop mode which might be awesome, and the ability to slow down time(yay). The game is due early 2012. I'll keep an eye out if there's any media(other than the leaked screenshots) released for the game.
