Star Trek Online Going Free To Play By End Of This Year

Perfect World, the company which acquired Cryptic Studios, announced that Star Trek Online will be made into a free to play game by the end of this year. Perfect World CEO stated "We have a bigger potential in US and also in China. And also Star Trek Online, after the acquisition, in fact Cryptic is working on the free-to-play model for Star Trek Online. This is going to be launched by the end of this year as well. So I think free-to-play model we have a bigger potential in US market and also in China market." While he was talking about the US and Chinese market, I hope(and I think it wouldn't make sense) they will release a F2P version worldwide. So fingers crossed. He also went on to mention that the Torchlight MMO Runic Games are working on is targeted to be out in 2012 or early 2013.
