Portal 2 Sold More On The PC - But Left 4 Dead Did Better On Consoles

Valve main man, Gabe Newell told Gamasutra that Portal 2 sold more on the PC compared to the vanilla XBOX360 version and even the Steamworks integrated PS3 version. Despite the marketing blitz and the effort to have the console and PC version be almost identical, the PC version still sold more. “We can never predict. We just try to build good games and then we tend to be surprised" he said. He went on to add that Left 4 Dead however sold more on the consoles. A surprising fact considering the precision required for Left 4 Dead and the mutations and updates Valve has released for free on the PC. "We don’t try to guess, because we’re not sure what value there is to guessing. We've never had a situation where we said, We really, really want to build something that is more popular for the console guys. Because usually we have a bunch of other higher priority problems we want to solve. So we’re glad that people want to play our games wherever they want to play". Well... I wonder if Counter Strike: Global Offensive would do better on the consoles(since it has been confirmed it is a multi platform release) surprising us PC Gamers.
