The soul crushing, life sucking World of Warcraft expansion, Cataclysm sold quite a bit. Actually it sold a tonne. Blizzard released a press release stating that Cataclysm has sole more than 4.7 million copies in the first month of release. If you think this is a record breaking number, you are right. The highest grossing pc game sales in a month. They further stated that day ones sales topped 3.3 million. Another interesting statistic, 12 million subscribers prior to Cataclysm launch. I wonder how many subscribers that have now. Well they haven’t got me! It will interesting to see how Blizzard moves on to their new MMO when WoW has such a strong following. My guess is it will do well but WoW will still remain popular.
