* 2 GHz Intel Dual Core processor / 2.6 GHz Intel Single Core processor , or AMD equivalent (with SSE2)
* 1GB RAM (XP), 2GB RAM (Vista / Windows7)
* 256 MB DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics card (shader model 3)
* 1024×768 minimum screen resolution
* 20GB free hard disk space
Recommended Specs
* 2nd Generation Intel Core™i5 processor (or greater), or AMD equivalent
* 2GB RAM (XP), 4GB RAM (Vista / Windows7)
* AMD Radeon HD 5000 and 6000 series graphics cards or equivalent DirectX 11 compatible graphics card
* 1280×1024 minimum screen resolution
* 20GB free hard disk space
Well at least the minimum specs look encouraging.

Wow, those recommended specs are some of the heftiest I've seen in a while, and this is a strategy game. I'd need to buy a new rig to match those. I guess the obvious reason is that most action games now are console ports and the hardware for the Xbox 360 / PS3 is getting long in the tooth., so such new games won't be pushing the hardware envelop. PC-only strategy games on the other hand are free to reach as high as they want.
ReplyDeleteYeah, Creative Assembly has always been doing this though. They've always pushed the capabilities of modern CPUs. Also I think we'll see a bit more PC games pushing for newer hardware now. Based on the Steam surveys, quite a few people now have decent CPU's and plenty of RAM.
ReplyDeleteAs always, scalability is very important. I'm probably not going to be playing this on ultra settings anyway. :s
