A House In California - IGF Finalist Art Game

Developed by Cardboard Computers, A House in California according to the games official page ‘is a surreal, narrative game about four characters who bring a house to life’. It’s a sort of adventure game that is more about the exploration of memories about this house. It’s also an 2011 IGF finalist.

By remembering specific things you travel to other locations that might help you solve a puzzle. Each location and the items are a vignette of the characters memory. They give you an insight into what he/she likes, their hobbies and thoughts. There are four characters to play as and each one of them has their own action types based on who they are.

Each character has their own type of interactions

It’s also a bit difficult as some of the solutions may not seem obvious. As with most art games, it’s a bit weird. These are what seem to be memories of young children and their imagination. Not a big fan of these type of point and click games. But you should check it out if you like such games.
