Sony Online Entertainments sequel to the classic, Planetside, will most likely be free to play. This was confirmed by SOE head, John Smedly. He hinted "The game will be F2P. What form will it be? We’re still working that out. But here’s a hint – we like League of Legends a lot" which is a real good indication of the direction they will be going with Planetside 2. Which in my opinion is a smart move considering the change in business models for PC MMO games. Planetside was one of the first(if not the first... I don't recall any other FPS game like it before) MMOFPS. And yes... it was a PC game coming out from Sony. Released back in 2003, it could feature hundreds of players on a single game and featured a global war between 3 different factions. No release date announced for Planetside 2 yet, but I'd put it at 2012. Yay to more free to play games... just don't force it on the horse armours please(NOTE: there will be no horse armour in Planetside 2 if you didn't get that reference).
