A new Port Royale game has been announced. Port Royale 3 is a naval trading game/business/pirating type strategy game. It's pretty similar to the Patrician games but Port Royale is a bit more accesible and ultimately just a lot more fun(without killing you with over complicated detail on the economic simulation). Kalypso will be showing off the game this month at GamesCom, so you can expect to see some gameplay footage soon(hopefully). Port Royale 3 is taking us for the first time to the new world in the series(it's been predominantly focused on the Hanseatic League/Scandinavia just like Partrician). It'll also feature multiplayer, which I'm unsure just how that will work. Port Royale 3 is slated for release Q2 2012.
Features of Port Royale 3:
- Three paths to glory and fame – choose the role of adventurer/pirate, merchant or a combination of both
- Exciting naval battles, coastal city sieges, raids and plunder await the adventurous player, while untold riches, power and glory await the more mercantile-oriented player
- Multiplayer competitive play
- A deep economic simulation engine ensures a realistic trading experience
- Real-world locations will immerse the player in the 17th century Caribbean
