Counter Strike: Global Offensive Is Not Counter Strike 2

Which is why they wisely didn't name it that. According to a post on ESEA News, Valve has been secretly inviting pro gamers and community members into their studio to test CS: GO. According to this report, Valve made it very clear this is NOT Counter Strike 2 but an updated version of Counter Strike. There wont be any new game modes(but it'll maintain DE_ and CS_). CS: GO is being built off of the latest version of the Source engine and feels quite different from CS 1.6 and even CSS. However, the testers have been extremely positive on the feel of the game(I assume that this would cause some issues with the more hardcore type in the community). The game apparently looks very pretty(well that is to be expected really) and Valve & Hidden Path are rebalancing some of the weapons and adding some new weapons and items like a Molotov Cocktail, a decoy grenade and some sort of item that can reroute enemies by making paths unusable?(sounds imbalanced) The game is currently in pre beta and is due out early 2012.
