UPDATE: Gearbox has officially announced Borderlands 2 today. The only info we got of the game is that you'll be exploring new environments, a whole new set of weapons and equipment, and there will be new classes(this is after all a hybrid FPS/Action RPG),and new enemies. GameInformer has got an exclusive first look into the game which will be featured in their next issue(August). The game will also be shown at GamesCom, thats August 17th so you can expect more info to surface from GamesCom. It's targeted for the fiscal year 2013, which begins April 2012(so it's not coming out this year).
Surprise surprise! Gearbox is working on a sequel for Borderlands. According to Eurogamer, Borderlands 2 will release next year for the PC, PS3 and XBOX 360. It hasn't been officially announced yet but it's been a well known fact especially with Gearbox themselves expressing the likely hood of a sequel for quite some time. I'll be keeping an eye out for news of a sequel. Watch this space.
