This Week's Gaming - Piracy In The Caribbean

This week, I play Pirates of The Black Cove, a new entry from Nitro Games. Hopefully this one's a lot better then their previous game. Interesting game that is almost like an offline single player MMORPG(set in a pirate theme and using ships) with a dash of Sid Meier's Pirates.

Pirates of The Black Cove
Nitro Games latest is a bit of a departure from their strategy focused games. This one is odd but shows a lot more promise than any previous Nitro Games. You try to become an influential pirate. Take quests from other Pirates, get gold, build a pirate base, recruit an army and become famous! It's trying to be like Sid Meier's Pirates... but it's not. It tries to be like Mount & Blade but with pirates... but it's not. Does its weird mix of gameplay mechanics work? I don't know, just starting to play it. Will have a first play video very soon.

Hearts of Iron III For The Motherland
Remember that game where you take on the role of governing a country during WWII? Well, being Mother Russia isn't as easy as I thought. Took out Estonia and installed comunism... which was a bad mistake since I just forced a change in government. They are still a sovereign nation. Latvia is putting up a good fight back but some of my troops from Estonia are turning towards Latvia to flank them. Still don't dare to declare war on Finland. Supply is still an issue. Will probably do a video with an update on the status of my game.

Sengoku
Played a little more with the Shimazu clan, which is a rather small clan the starting date in the preview build. Things are stacked up against small clans since unlike EU3, you raise levy troops in each regions you own. You do the math, the bigger your territory, the larger your army. Again, things aren't quite balanced in this preview build but I'm trying to figure out if the mechanics make this a fun experience. Hopefully, I can complete my preview by this week.
