Bethesda’s Todd Howard admitted to OXM that he felt Oblivion sacrificed some what made Morrowind special He said it lost the charm , the sense of wonder that Morrowind had as you were an adventurer in a strange land discovering fantastical locations. Oblivion was a much more familiar fantasy setting. “With Oblivion, we’re dealing with the capital province, and we wanted to get back to the more classic Arena and Daggerfall feel of a fantasy world that felt more refined and welcoming,” he further added “But in that, we sacrificed some of what made Morrowind special; the wonder of discovery.” I fully concur with his assessment. I loved Morrowind because it had these amazing places that always made me admire the creativity of the people who made that game. According to Howard, Bethesda are trying to find a middle ground with Skyrim.
