DICE States Some 2013 FrostBite 2 Engine Game Will Require 64bit Operating System
Johan Anderson, rendering architect from DICE tweeted "We'll have Frostbite-powered games in 2013 that will _require_ a 64-bit OS. If you are on 32-bit, great opportunity to upgrade to Windows 8". What this means is that your Windows 7 would have to be 64bit... not necessarily that you upgrade to Windows 8. The FrostBite 2 engine has since been used for other EA titles such as Need For Speed: The Run and the upcoming Medal of Honor: Warfighter since its début with Battlefield 3. So far the only EA game powered by FrostBite 2 we know to be releasing next year is the Bioware Command & Conquer: Generals 2. Either way, I've always thought for a long time there is no longer a purpose to installing a 32 bit OS any longer. Memory is cheap and games and software will eventually demand more than the 2GB memory threshold for 32bit systems. You've been warned... make sure you have a 64bit Windows to make full use of your uber rigs. But I'm guessing if you already have an uber rig, you would already be running a 64bit OS.
