UPDATE Company of Heroes 2 Confirmed! Targeted For Early 2013 Release

UPDATE 2: THQ has released an official press statement for Company of Heroes 2. The press release adds that the game is targeted for early 2013 release and there'll be all new tech tree and commander abilities. This is a true sequel, taking place at the brutal and devastating Eastern Front. The press release only states the Nazi invaders and the Red Army, so it isn't clear if there'll be any other factions. Press release after the jump.

UPDATE: PC Gamer has posted more info. Company of Heroes 2 will be based off of the new Essence 3 engine. Fog of war now works with line of sight, what Relic are calling true sight. You can only see what your units see. CoH 2 will feature much bigger battles with more units on screen. Looks like they are making the game more tactical... which is what I've always wished Company of Heroes would turn out to be.

There's official confirmation from PC Gamer UK that Company of Heroes 2 will be revealed in their next issue. The sequel to the award winning RTS will be set in the eastern front during World War II. You can expect a Russian faction. It's been reported that Company of Heroes 2 will feature dynamic snow effects that can slow down tanks as it gets thicker. Troops can even take cover behind thick snow and they can even vault over small obstacles. Expect more info in the coming months. Lead designer Quinn Duffy, has been quoted as saying: “We want more authenticity, we want more realism, we want more tactical improvements.”. Company of Heroes 2 is expected to be out in 2013.
