Magicka The Stars Are Left DLC Impressions
With the release of their previous DLC expansion, Magicka Vietnam, Arrowhead Games got plenty of feedback that players wanted more Magicka styled campaign missions. Vietnam was deemed too short as it featured only 2 levels(which were challenge missions, you raced against a clock with minimal story). They've heard the fans loud and clear... and for The Stars Are Left, they were determined to make a proper Magicka DLC campaign.

Merry Christmas! With Love, Frost Troll
It's Christmas, and near the end of the year. I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and happy holidays. You may be wondering what I have been up to these weekends... well I wanted to go Christmas visiting... but then I took an arrow to the knee. Okay fine that's getting old now, but I am knee deep in Skyrim. Still rather early but trying out a lot of main quests and such. I must say, I find the battles rather difficult(well some of them). At level 8, travelling to some of the places the main quests needs you to go to will bring you peril... one word... trolls! and frost trolls! These are what Santa's helper would be like if Santa was in a HP Lovecraft universe. Downright nasty. Enjoy your holidays! Gaming news has slowed down, but I'll take the opportunity to write about some games that I hadn't. Cheers! Have some Nord Mead!

CryEngine 3 Blows You Away - Military Sim Trailers Showcase The Stunning Engine
Rock Paper Shotgun pointed out that these guys, Real Time Immersive has put up some rather interesting looking trailer, for military sims... It looks freaking realistic, except faces still looks video gamey. We're pretty close to realism in video game engine graphics, but human faces still is the biggest challenge. Mind you this probably wouldn't run on an off the shelf commercial PC. Watch the videos below...

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Now Can Use Up To 4GB RAM
A patch released today will allow those running 64bit operating systems to use 4GB RAM in Skyrim. Hopefully this will mean the game(already runs pretty damn well) will be even more efficient and smooth. That's about the only major improvement in 1.3... but it's a big one. Apart from this patch, there's a new UI mod that make the Skyrim UI more PC like. You can check out SkyUI here. If the Skyrim default UI really annoys you I suggest you check this mod out.

Relic Working On New Company of Heroes Game - Please Let It Be CoH 2
Could be a sequel(I hope it is), could be something else. Relic, the RTS gurus have been reported by PCGamer(their latest issue) that they are working on a new Company of Heroes. It's in the rumour section, and it is said they are gearing up to something Company of Heroes while currently working on Dawn of War III. Company of Heroes was released back in 2006 and is in my opinion, easily one of the best, if not the best RTS experience out there. It's had 2 expansions(with one highly rumoured to have been cancelled) as well as a free to play variant that has been shutdown since March this year. While this could be some sort of spin off, the timing would be perfect for a sequel to one of their best franchise. Come on Relic... we know it's Company of Heroes 2... oh and please don't forget Homeworld 3 :)

F1 Online: The Game - Free To Play Online Racing Game?
Codemasters hitting on the free to play segment with a rather odd offering... F1 Online: The Game. A free to play game, a racing game... Okay so free to play is a big thing and many publishers a beginning to look at it as a serious PC offering. We've got Battlefield, other First Person Shooters, RTS, RPG, now... a racing game(well technically Trackmania United was probably the first f2p racing game). So what next? Cooking Mama Online?(okay so I shouldn't be giving publishers any ideas). F1 Online is a browser based game and features something called a pattern shop which I presume, you could peruse to buy fancy vinyl's and other decorative stuff for your car(with real money). The official site is currently down, but was open to beta registration(check back later). Check out the first look trailer they released...

Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Power & Mastery Trailer
So what's so special about Kingdoms of Amalur? Well how about RA Salvatore being the creator of the world... oh and also, the lead designer, Ken Rolston was also the lead designer for The Elder Scrolls IV: Morrowind(and Oblivion as well). Yeah, a lot of big names here. It's coming out for the PC as well as the consoles on February 7th 2012. They are touting this isn't going to be a straight up action RPG, you need strategy and tactics to win some combat. This is a single player game with no co-op. Check out the latest trailer below...

Bloody Hell! Online Co-op Skyrim Mod In The Works!
Skyrim as it is, is already a life sucking, time killer of a game. But playing with your friends? Online! Unbelievable that someone could mod this. Gosh I love PC gaming. Of course, this could be one helluva ambitious mod project so I am being a little cautious about it and not going to think much of it until it is released(many mods get stuck in the conception stage). You can watch a very early prototype of the mod from the video below. It's really rough, the mod official site looks like it's over here(and you can get the mod here). To get the mod working requires overwriting your Skyrim config files and such, so I'm not going to try it out(and I suggest guys should wait as well). So I can't verify any of this. I'm going to wait until they've integrated it with Steamworks. Let's wait and see.

PC Gamer Malaysia Final Issue - Magazine Discontinued
Those of you who have bought and read December 2011 issue, would have already known this. This is new to me. I just saw a big fat round graphic printed on the front cover stating 'FINAL ISSUE'. Editor Simon Tan states that while the magazine has been running for 8 years, they are finding it not profitable any longer as game distributors are advertising less and the PC Desktop market is quite stagnant right now. 8 freakin' years! This has got to be one of the longest Malaysian gaming mag. Maybe the content was not that exciting what with them writing guides for free to play MMO's and then to mobile game reviews(the centre spread). And Velocity Media had certainly been cutting down operations of PCGMY over the years. Started out with gusto but ended in a whimper. They even had an online site which was long abandoned. A moment of silence please.............. Now that PC Gamer Malaysia is no more, I'll have to buy PC Gamer UK or US which costs a lot more and not all bookstores carry them :s

Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances Debut Trailer - It's Not An RTS
With the announcement of the MMO Strategy, Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances yesterday(boy that's a mouthful.. maybe I'll just call it C&CTA), EA has released a debut trailer for the game. It looks like it wont have the real time aspect of a C&C game. battle seems to be taking place on a timer of sorts... you have to queue them up and let it happen. You can register for the beta here. Watch the trailer below...
Malaysian Gamer Is 3 Years Old! Hallelujah!
It's time for a nostalgia post. Today, Malaysian Gamer is 3 years old. What started out as my very own foray into video games writing is now well... still just that but with a lot more promise than I ever imagined it would have had in the beginning. There's something really good here.

UPDATE Alan Wake Coming To The PC - Confirmed!
UPDATE: Remedy Entertainment confirmed that Alan Wake is indeed making its way onto Steam.
It'll be out first quarter/early 2012 and will include both DLC's The Signal and The Writer. Awesome! I wish it would come out sooner though.
Rumours are abound... Remedy's post Max Payne XBOX360 exclusive, Alan Wake, is highly like to be making its way to the PC. Those determined bunch over at NEOGaf have spotted language specific files for Alan Wake on Steam. Remedy hasn't released any statement about a PC release but if these NEOGaf guys sniff files on their network, it is highly it will be coming to Steam. Let's wait and see exactly when we get a release date. It's been a long time... and to think that Alan Wake was originally used to demo Intel's next gen quad core CPU's.

Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances Announced! - C&C Goes MMO Strategy
Oh and it's free to play! EA announced today that Command & Conquer: Tiberium Alliances will be a cross platform(on multiple browsers and mobile... don't ask how that'll work) free to play MMO Strategy game. This announcement comes right at the heels of another C&C game announcement, Command & Conquer: Generals 2(now in the hands of Bioware). It seems EA are expanding the Command & Conquer franchise, making full use of it. More Command & Conquer can't be bad right? Beta sign up for Tiberium Alliances is up. You can sign up for the beta here

UPDATE Gabe Newell Hints At A Game With A '3' In It Announcement At E3 - Or Is He trolling?
UPDATE: Marc Laidlaw from Valve told Lambda Generation stated there is no ARG at this moment. So are you convinced? Or are they being shifty? Or is it just the community getting too impatient with Valve and Half Life?
PC Gamer wrote a piece about how 4chan wrote Gabe Newell an email consisting of a single word contributed by 4chan forumers. Surprisingly they got a reply stating that they would be announcing everything they like at E3. He further clarified on reddit that they will be announcing something with a 3 at next years E3. Okay so the post on reddit cannot be verified but Valve are clearly up to something. There's a video on Gametrailers of the VGA's that contains codes and hidden messages(it's for Wheatley being nominated for best video game character). And then there was the Valve guy who wore a Half Life 3 t-shirt. Hmmmm Trolling? Or a build up to something... something big?

Bioware Working On Command & Conquer Generals 2
UPDATE: Generals 2 is being worked at a new Bioware Studio called Bioware Victory. EA has basically renamed Victory Games(the studio working on a new C&C games to a Bioware named one).
The game EA has been teasing with lots of rumours has been swirling about turns out to be none other than a sequel to Command & Conquer Generals, an offshoot from Westwood's Command & Conquer series that takes place in post modern times with super powers and terrorists vying for the destruction of each other. Oh and the cool part, it is powered by DICE's FrostBite 2(the engine that powers Battlefield 3). This is Bioware's first none RPG game and see's them branching out into the RTS genre. Command & Conquer Generals 2 is planned for a 2013 release. They haven't announced platforms yet. Check out the announcement trailer below...

GSC Gameworld Closed! S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 Is No More
It is a sad day today. S.T.A.L.K.E.R devs, GSC Gameworld has been confirmed to have been closed. There's been a lot of conflicting reports about this as one person said it is closed and another denying or stating no comment. Tweets hastily posted and deleted... Ukranian site posts the first news about GSCs closure. Rock Paper Shotgun has confirmed this news with this blog post from Sergei Galyonkin, Marketing Director of 1C Ukraine. You can read the translated blog post here. It's a bit hard to understand in parts but he confirms the studios closure and attributes it to the failure to get a console publishing deal and the cost of developing such a niche PC title. Alas! S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is now cancelled. It is uncertain what will have to the Intellectual Property rights to the series. Will update this post if there is more news regarding this.

Epic Unveiling A Brand New Game At The VGAs
Clifford Blezinski of Epic Games announced in the teaser video(no footage) that they'll be unveiling a brand new game at the VGA's. That's Spike TV's own video game awards that will be aired on the 10th of December. We over here wont have the opportunity to watch the VGA's but videos from it should be available on Gametrailers.com as soon as the show goes off the air. The game is said to be a 'fresh, new experience'... no hints about platform or anything of that sort. Could this be the samaritan demo made into a game? or is this a console only game(as Epic is so fond of doing these days). Or have they been won over back of the PC's strength and will be doing a multi platform release? Guesses anyone?
