Sins of A Solar Empire doesn't look too shabby, but 2 years on with 3 micro expansion out for it, Ironclad Games are planning to release an update that will implement a complete graphical overhaul. Lighting has been improved quite a bit. RTSGuru posted this rather tantalising picture that shows a small preview comparison of the before and after applying this graphical update. This update is being worked on together with the release of Sins of A Solar Empire Rebellion, so I'm going to guess it releases about the same time they put out Rebellion... which... they haven't confirmed exactly when that'll happen(although they aim to release it end of this year... which is quickly slipping away).
