It is a sad day today. S.T.A.L.K.E.R devs, GSC Gameworld has been confirmed to have been closed. There's been a lot of conflicting reports about this as one person said it is closed and another denying or stating no comment. Tweets hastily posted and deleted... Ukranian site posts the first news about GSCs closure. Rock Paper Shotgun has confirmed this news with this blog post from Sergei Galyonkin, Marketing Director of 1C Ukraine. It's a bit hard to understand in parts but he confirms the studios closure and attributes it to the failure to get a console publishing deal and the cost of developing such a niche PC title. Alas! S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 is now cancelled. It is uncertain what will have to the Intellectual Property rights to the series. Will update this post if there is more news regarding this.
