Creative Assembly has put out the second battle report video for Total War: Shogun 2 which this time showcases a castle siege. The siege demonstrates how the AI might use different tactics and is a little bit more sneaky. The siege looks a lot more complicated than the previous iterations. It a pretty lengthy video(16 minutes in all), so if you’re a little starved for Shogun 2 footage this will do quite well. Video below…
I’m not exactly sure why they went with this sort of mechanic for sieges. Sieges have always been a weak spot for Total War games. Too slow and grindy, bad pathfinding, and too repetitive. Unless of course they’ve made the AI more unpredictable(which they were claiming in this video) and solved the pathfinding issues. Total War: Shogun 2 is slated for a 15th March 2011 release.
