Tiny & Big Up That Mountain - Pants!

Tiny & Big is a physics based puzzle platformer from Black Pants Game Studio. It reminds me a lot of Petri Purhos(Crayon Physics Deluxe creator) Cut It, where the object of the game is to slice pieces of objects and use physics to solve puzzles. In Tiny & Big, you play a Tiny who has gotten his pants stolen. Retrieve your pants!

Oh and one more thing, your pants has the ability to teleport its wearer. Unfortunately your pants is now in the possession of this creature whom you must chase down for the love of all things good. It went up a very tall mountain and there doesn’t seem to be a way to get to the places this little bugger is at.

Luckily, you’re equipped with a gun that can slice stones and a grappling hook to pull these stones down. Using only these tools, you must make your way up the mountain by making these pillars fall exactly the right way so that you can get across gaps etc.

Let me stress the words ‘fall exactly as you want’ because the physics don’t always work out they way you want it to. The only influence you have on the way the pillars and blocks fall is as I said, to use your grappling hook. It’s still pretty iffy and it depends a lot on luck.

At least from the amount I’ve played, I’ve not gotten a grasp of manipulating how these pillars fall. It’s a little like Jenga. You can’t really guess how the pieces will crumble down before you’ve committed to pulling out a piece and done the deed.

The platforming bits are also a bit wonky as the physics and collision detection between environment and the player character isn't spot on. Especially when you stand really close to another object.

All things being said, Tiny & Big is an ambitious idea that looks really nice(the rendering filter on this is quite impressive) and shows a lot of promise. It’s still in beta so I’m confident Black Pants Studio will further polish this to be a much better experience.
