Road of The Dead - It’s Always The Military!

Zombies! More Zombies! If you’re tired of zombies, you might want to put your feelings on hold. Road of The Dead is awesome! It’s the zombie apocalypse and you need to get the hell out of the city. Sure, that’s the plot in almost every zombie flick/game ever but Road of The Dead puts you in the perspective of a driver of a car. It’s an amazing flash game that’s super visceral which I can’t say often for flash games. It’s Speed with zombies!




Road of The Dead has all the clichés of a zombie apocalypse. A city wide quarantine, the military going insane and neutralising civilians, survivors trapped in the city quarantine and all that. You play a character of ‘questionable’ background. In an attempt to escape the city, you get in your car and burn rubber! It’s not that simple you see, the military has set up a city wide quarantine and aren’t going to make it easy for you. What’s really cool is that you get insights into the story by listening to chatter on the communication radio.



It’s basically a linear obstacle course and you’ll have to dodge survivors(which they’ll dock some points off for killing them), abandoned cars, and what the military throws at you(Humvee’s to spike trips). There’s also an upgrade mechanic where you can upgrade different components of your car that will make it handle better and make it more resistant to damage. I’d recommend an upgrade in tires as soon as you can afford it as the car starts out handling really ‘slidey’.

Any game that has a useful application for the horns and wipers of a car gets an instant nod from me(as it’s real easy to included these as fluff). You’ll have to use your horn to warn survivors that run around like headless chicken on the road. Driving over zombies make your windscreen bloody, hence why the wiper is important. No one! Particularly noteworthy is the audio, it’s really good. From the chatter on the communications radio to the thumping action music, it is surprisingly well made. This is a good zombie apocalypse flash game which is easy to get into and has good production values. If you want to feel like a bad ass in a zombie apocalypse, this is the game for you.
