Brain Splode - Bullet in The Brain

brainsplodepreview

Brain Splode is an indie title made by Rust Red Games where you explode brains. Alien brains to be exact. The planet has been over run by these brains that seem to be feeding off the world, like parasites. It’s your job to clear the infestation. It’s a puzzle game that works a lot like the combat mechanic of controlling rockets in a Worms game.

For those not familiar with the Worms series, you can control the trajectory of your rockets(from rocket launchers of course) and you’d have to angle it correctly to get it to go where you want it to go.

Brain Splode is a lot like that but without the wind dynamic of the worms games(in worms, the wind direction played a role in how the rockets will fly). The game starts out easy and you control this stationary rocket launcher. You can use the aiming box to change where to aim and how much thrust you want your rockets to have.

As you progress through the levels, you will be given new type of abilities to control your rockets trajectory such as using rocket thrusters which you can activate while it’s moving in the air or parachutes. There are also levels in which you can't aim your launcher and will have to use the special abilities to get to the hard to get brain locations on the level.

On some levels, there are these yellow bouncy gel things which your rocket can land on and bounce around which I really loved. Things get progressively more complicated(and you have more controls on what abilities to use later on) and the help screen can be vague and not really helpful at times. But you’ll figured it out quickly what you’re supposed to do in any given level. Brain Splode is no rocket science, no pun intended, but it’s fun little prototype for a fun indie title.
