Valve announced today that its digital distribution platform, Steam, has had over 100% sales growth for 2011. It makes it the seventh year the runaway leader in its market has been making over 100% growth in sales. Steam has 40 million  registered users with a record of 5 million user online concurrently. Valve President, Gabe Newell said "Support for in-game item trading prompted the exchange of over 19 million items. Support for Free to Play (FTP) games, launched in June, has spurred the launch of 18 FTP titles on Steam, with more coming in 2012." He went on to state that this year, they are prepping up for the release of a Big UI Mode for Steam which will allow it to be used on much bigger displays(like TV's). I'm sure most of you has downloaded quite a bit from Steam this year(what with the amazing sales deals and what not)... ever wondered how much data was downloaded last year? 780 Petrabytes!
