Goodbye 3D Realms

Ahh nostalgia, I remember the first time I played the glorious(and cheesy) Duke Nukem 3D. It has been one of the most unforgettable gaming experiences that has been etched in my memory forever. Bigdownload has confirmed that 3D Realms will be closing its doors.

In a post on 3D Realms's message board its long time employee and company webmaster Joe Siegler states, "It's true. I have nothing further to say at this time." In addition our sister site Joystiq has a statement from Take Two Interactive, confirming they still have the publishing rights to Duke Nuke Forever but that their arragement with 3D Realms did not including funding for the game's development.

So it is unclear whether Duke Nukem Forever will ever be realised. TakeTwo Interactive owns the license and there has been no press statement about the fate of that game. I personally think TakeTwo might have canned the project since we haven’t heard anything about it since the few footages and screenshots we saw last year.
