Dragon Age Will Not Have Online Authentication

Bigdownload reports that Dragon Age(as well as The Sims 3) will not be using the online SecuROM DRM system used in previous EA titles. After being slammed by customers for imposing install limits, EA has since released deauthorisation tool for many of the games that used this system. Bioware community manager Chris Priestly said that Dragon age will be using a disk check based DRM.

BioWare's community coordinator Chris Priestly states, "We're happy to announce that the boxed/retail PC version of Dragon Age: Origins will use only a basic disk check and it will not require online authentication." He added that SecuROM won't be used by any version of the game (this presumably means digital download copies as well). Dragon Age: Origins is schedule for release by EA this fall.

Good news for RPG fans. As someone who bought Spore, personally I never found any issues with the previous system but I agree that customers don’t have to go to such inconvenience to play the game they want.
