UPDATE: Dark Souls Minimum System Requirements Out - No In-Game Voice Chat

UPDATE: Namco has clarified that Dark Souls will not support in-game voice chat and will not require a microphone headset. Hmmm now that I think about it... I wouldn't want idiots screaming at the top of.... oh nvm... that would have been fun.

August 24th is the day Dark Souls: Prepare To Die Edition is to be released on the PC. The steam page now lists a minimum requirement spec. Pretty decent minimum requirement with a 2.6 dual core processor as a minimum. What is notable is that multiplayer requires a microphone headset. There's also no mention of Games For Windows Live! which means... good news? Dark Souls is somewhat persistent in nature and it's notable for its multiplayer where you can see other players progress and deaths. Playing Dark Souls offline would be the most depressing experience ever... know that the game is super difficult with many, many one hit kills. Check out the minimum requirement and latest trailer below...

Minimum requirement
  • OS: Windows XP , Windows Vista, Windows 7, or newer
  • Processor: 2.6 GHz Dual-Core
  • Memory: 1 GB (XP), 2GB (Vista/7)
  • Hard Disk Space: 4 GB
  • Video Card: 512 MB RAM, ATI Radeon 4850 or higher, NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT or higher
  • DirectX®: 9.0c
  • Sound: Direct Sound Compatible
  • Additional: Multiplayer requires microphone headset support
