NEOGaf has a thread up that has a bunch of images uploaded which is claimed to be from German magazine Gamestar. The thread also lists out some details about the game which includes: ability to build round roads, the inclusion of a multiplayer mode, and well... no surprise a brand new graphics engine. The multiplayer mode will allow players to cooperate with other people and develop an entire region in an online game. According to info from this thread, Maxis Lucy Bradshaw states that the game is still a year off(looking at a release in 2013). What I absolutely do know is that they are working on some unannounced game and if this thread is correct, then an announcement is not far off. Probably during GDC which happens next week(March 5th - 9th). Will keep an eye on this.
