GDC 2009: Elemental: War of Magic Video Walkthrough

In what is a first exclusive look, Gamespot has a video walkthrough of Stardock next turn based strategy game, Elemental: War of Magic. Elemental will feature plenty of customisable assets, player created content, a life like 3D map with the ability to zoom in right down and good old Might of Magic like old school mechanics. Video walkthrough below:

I’m extremely excited about this one. Stardock has a great reputation for making awesome, deep, engaging strategy games. A beta is planned for Elemental middle of this year(for those that pre order). Elemental: War of Magic should be released sometime next year(2010).

Elemental: War of Magic, Back To Old School Turn Based Goodness

RockPaperShotgun featured an interview with Stardock CEO Brad Wardell on their upcoming turn based fantasy strategy game, Elemental: War of Magic. Elemental is a game that harkens back to the days of Master of Magic and allows you to become a powerful wizard or villain by the end of the game.

On the customisation aspect of the game, Brad Wardell said:

The in-game tools of Elemental are designed to let players create their own items, their own worlds, their own graphical elements to the world, their own creatures, their own races and pretty much anything else they might want to expand the game. They’re the same tools we use to add content to the game. The idea is we want players to be able to create their own sub-games and sub-genres to extend replayability and keep the game always fresh and new. They’ll be able to control this content with the bestiary screen to essentially build their own game scenarios.

Elemental sounds amazing(especially the level of customisability) and if their previous game is anything to go by(Galactic Civilization 2), Elemental will be a game to watch.

Elemental: War of Magic is not set for a 2009 release(could only make a 2010 release date), but a beta is planned for June 2009 for pre order owners.
