Making History II IGN Interview

While Hearts of Iron III is clearly the most popular WWII grand strategy game, it is interesting to see another title of this genre in development. Making History II is(in the words of IGN’s Steve Butts) akin to a mix of a Garry Grisby’s game and a Hearts of Iron. IGN has a lengthy interview with lead designer,Ralph Gert from Muzzy Lane Software. If you like grand strategy games, this might be another title that you might want to keep an eye on.

IGN: The original game occupied the middle ground between Gary Grigsby's World at War and Paradox Interactive's Hearts of Iron. Have you adjusted the complexity of the game at all?

Ralph Gerth:
We've broadened the feature set and increased the amount of in-game content. You can now customize your city with many different building types, the tech tree is much bigger with many new military units, and we've added about a 1,000 new regions to the game map. To that extent you could say Making History II will be more complex but I think of it more in terms of greater depth with similar levels of difficulty. It's still fundamentally the same style of gameplay but with a lot more to offer. Structurally the entire game has been retooled including a brand new graphics engine for our 3D map.

Coming this fall, putting it in direct competition with Hearts of Iron III, it will be a busy time for World War II buffs. Read the entire interview here
